Just find out that Hoplites released a new album, their second full length since January

 

Whoa that was fast

 

So far in 2023 I've listened to 64 new metal albums, which is probably more new albums that I've listened to in the past 2-3 years combined. Very much not regretting taking more time to do that this year. There's been so many great albums, and I could easily post a top 10 for just the first 3 months. Here they are, in no particular order:

Majesties - Vast Reached Unclaimed
Hellripper - Warlock Grim & Withered Hags
Inherits the Void - The Impending Fall of the Stars
Mithridatum - Harrowing
Pest Control - Don't Test the Pest
Ulthar - Anthronomicon/Helionomicon
Kommand - Death Age
Hyperdontia - Deranged
Tithe - Inverse Rapture
Judiciary - Flesh & Blood

I'm certain Majesties and Hellripper are absolutely going to remain in the top 10, probably the top 3 unless something else comes along and blows me away. This month we get Voidceremony, Predatory Void, and Enforced and next month we get Ascended Dead.

As far as stuff from last year I took forever to come around to, I'm still all in on Blackbraid and Spiritworld.

pretty exciting. i'm seeing that tour at louder than life. i hope they at least show the characters somehow lol

 

Made the choice to see this over Metallica a few weeks prior in Dallas, very stoked.

 

I've enjoyed the other tracks so far, but this one was all over the place.
