  13. Too many slow-mo mamma mias but other than that this was… great?

I had a smile on my face the whole time.

About 80% of the jokes landed too which is more than I can say for the humor in most of the recent Marvel movies.

I do kinda get why this had a lot of unfavorable reviews? It’s not, like, a good movie. But, it sure does all the things a Mario product should do! Often unapologetically, without qualification. I found myself often entertained, in a stupid fun kinda way. Lots of, “ha, they sure just went for it and did it, didn’t they?”

If you’re into Mario, and having a bunch of fan service from those games shaped into a movie for children sounds like a fun 90 min, it’s worth a watch if you have the spare time. Just don’t expect anything beyond that.

    Okay I loved this.

Had a fun loving smile on my face the whole time. Pleased 32 year old Mario/Nintendo fans like myself with nods and the soundtrack, and did what it needed to do for kids/families who have no idea what those nods/soundtrack additions mean.

Pure dumb, colourful and over the top fun. What else did anyone expect? This movie didn't need depth. It needed to be exactly what it is.

Also missed opportunity with no "So long eyy Bowser!" Obviously nodding to the N64 meme, but removing the gay joke.

Same league for me as The Lego Movie, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, etc. Good stuff.

This was fun. My kids had a blast and I loved all the Easter eggs. Was it the best movie? No, the plot was pretty much non existent, but it didn’t bother me at all with how great it looked/felt.

The voice acting didn’t bother me at all either. I’m here for more movies in the nintendo universe though a Zelda/Link movie better bring a good story with it if they ever get there!

I think an animated Zelda would work more as a series. Nailing the tone would be so hard though, would really have to be light on the comedy/slapstick.

    I'd love a Metroid movie.

Super Smash Bros. movie in 10 years lessssgggooooo.

it's funny because most Zelda games have no plot either. go here and get this thing and come back and fight this thing, repeat. a series would be cool, but they would have to make up distinct stories and plots to go with the locations. otherwise it would get tedious. giving link dialogue and a personality would probably help.

what I'm basically saying is you can't spend a whole episode in a dungeon moving from puzzle to puzzle and enemy to enemy and then fight the boss at the end. it would be very hard to make a good Zelda show that didn't feel repetitive

Honestly, a Zelda show where the cast spends an episode trying to solve a single puzzle is something I would watch religiously.

It would make sense to craft something that borrows from the series as a whole than to adapt a particular game, like making characters like Darunia and Ruto actual companions instead of people who you meet and move on from.

Or do like Spirit Tracks and have Zelda just be the companion instead of a damsel in distress.

There's ways to pull this off.
