I think people in general are more aware of politics because of how much social media has taken over everyone’s lives.

Is voter suppression actively turning blue states red though? It's mostly just keeping red states that are probably actually blue red or keeping red states more red. Like I said before I really don't see Trump gaining any ground from 2020, but I could be wrong.

One of the things that worries me most is that it is extremely hard to quantify or track in any real way the damage trump has done to our presidential elections. There is not a shred of actual evidence or data to support the vast majority of his batshit claims or grievances, and yet there is a disturbingly large percentage of voters who actively support him, but it is the number of people who aren't overly politically active and yet do not absolutely throw the things he says out entirely that really keeps me up at night. People who now "have questions or concerns" about Dominion voting machines, people who have questions about how the voting was carried out in Maricopa Country or Georgia. And that number is basically impossible to quantify or find out in any concrete way short of doing a post-mortem on the election after it is over, and even then could take years and oftentimes is a lot of guessing / finding the data that supports your hypothesis or headline about why _______ won or lost the election.

I think it would be true to say that Trump has less support than he did in 2020. But I also think it is true that Biden has less support than he did in 2020. I do think aside from his diehard base, people are tired of Trump, don't want to deal with him anymore, and know he's not good for the country, so Republicans would certainly be in a better position nominating someone else. I really don't think people care about these culture war issues the GOP is pushing as much as they think and end up being a turnoff for those who are on the edge on which party to support. But the weak economy could also be a problem for Biden, as that's always the voters number one concern.

Biden had SUCH A LOW FUCKING BAR TO CLEAR, and while I do not think he has been worse as president than donald trump, he hasn't exactly covered himself in glory either. Not even close.

Had to get life saving surgery when I was homeless and walked out with a $120,000 medical bill. I had a job at the time (rent was too high and my income was too low to afford an apartment) and didn't meet the income threshold for bill forgiveness. The impact it had on my credit and income (got sued for not paying off the bill and now my wages are being garnished forever) limited my ability to find housing for two years. Evil fucking country. Thankfully I'm housed and in a much better position in life now. I still feel completely bitter about it because I wouldn't be in this predicament in any other country.

where is the dark brandon who was cancelling student debt and pardoning marijuana offenses. Feel like he had a few very good months toward the end of 2022 and then just went back to being shitty

My wife and I were driving in the car with our kids and the guy in front of us had a bumper sticker that said: "F JOE BIDEN", exactly like that. They've both been working really hard on their reading, so my daughter (6) looks at it and then stops kinda thoughtfully and asks us what it says. So I told her it says "F (pronounced eff) Joe Biden" and at first she goes "oh" and ponders it for a sec, and then asks what that means. So I said something like 'it means the guy in front of us really, really doesn't like Joe Biden', and my son (7) chimes in very pleasant and innocent-sounding and goes "oh, I thought that meant "fuck".

It’s the swing states that pretty much decide every election that are the areas of concern. No, they’re not turning a solid blue state red or vice versa but the fuckery that happens in Georgia, Arizona, NC, etc is incredibly problematic

Change is change. Trump is clearly not Biden, in the eyes of voters.

I just don’t see a way Trump wins the nomination and election without it being a key factor. Because as we know, outside his base, it doesn’t seem that he’s exactly gaining voters with his antics (to put them mildly).

This was my favorite movie fact until I saw somewhere last year that it was debunked. Now I don't know what to think.

I know I paid very little attention to politics until I was maybe 18 or so. The same for a lot of my friends. I’m sure there are more politically aware kids about, but I’m not sure that kids in general are more politically aware. There are social causes which are more prominent these days that we were fairly oblivious to in the early 2000s, which I think inevitably leads to more kids having at least some political awareness.

Lisa Calderón is gaining ground to make the Denver mayoral runoff election. She's gained with each new ballot dump today, but I'm not sure it'll be enough.

On the bright side, two of the more progressive at large city council candidates (Sarah Parady and Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez) are leading.
