The rest of my comment is not directed at Jason. As a whole I wish his response is what discourse was always like. Instead, I typically get curses and bold statements of fact "they are rapists" and if you mention them or their album people say you're part of the problem or part of rape culture and mock, condescend and insult.

Since Bright Eyes and Conor Oberst was mentioned as an example of someone coming back from allegations. If I remember correctly he got it bad for awhile in places like AP.Net even. Shows and tours were canceled, he filed a defamation suit which is a step that is demonized now as victim bullying...etc. It took him taking at the very least a year of slander and abuse in the music world before things started to come unglued within the accusers story. I agree with not outwardly promoting accused artists and propping them up, but disagree with screaming "RAPIST!" while matters are unfolding whenever they are mentioned.

Of course there are also some artists that have repeated patterns of behavior and things are so clear and in those instances none of what I said applies.

That's all for me. I've said more than my peace on the issue. Time for me to move on and go back to enjoying and discovering good music thanks to this site.

 

On one hand, this feels like it’s none of our business. On the other, I know it’s been a point of whether or not someone should support Homme’s art. The whole situation sucks and I truly hope the kids will recover from it.

 

I think Homme was trying to keep it none of our business but his reputation as a parent was being publicly smeared so I get why
