He will always lose the popular vote. But enough thrown out ballots, court cases, and bad electors could be the difference in key states

My mind still does not understand what has gone on in my state. That above article just highlights it. It has been such a giant swing from Republican controlled everything to actually passing good shit for people with a Democrat controlled everything.

It took three elections cycles for this and I am probably missing some:

    Since 2018 we got,
    Legalized Marijuana (Citizens Referendum)
    Independent Redistricting Commission (Citizens Referendum)
    Voting Procedures (Citizens Referendum)
Whitmer Voted in but Republicans control House and Senate

    2020
Michigan votes for Biden and Gary Peters (D) for Senate
House and Senate still controlled by Republicans

    2022
    Abortion protected (Citizens Referendum)
    Voting Rights protected (Citizens Referendum)
Whitmer reelected in a landslide and Democrats take full control of House and Senate.

She is still way too much of a corporate dem but she has done some really good stuff. Still do not like her ties to Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Agreed, but I take it as a promising sign that even a corporate dem can get good stuff done with popular support.

But he didn't get any of that last time, and nothing suggests he's likely to this time. No judges were willing to play along with those nonsense claims, and the vast majority of the candidates who would've supported things like that lost in 2022.

With everything going on around him with court cases, indictments, investigations, etc., I don't see many willing to play along when it actually comes down to it, though they might talk a big game because they need Trump's base which is still substantial.

Yeah after so long being under full Republican control, I will take some good stuff even if its not the great stuff I want. We have long needed some sort of progress and claw back. I still want a repeal of the anti-rent control law and the AirBnb laws among a whole host of other shit.

It’s bigger than Trump though, isn’t it? It depends a lot on how much Americans feel the pinch of inflation, how worried about war with Russia they are, etc. Sometimes people just want change.

As a candidate he is a steaming pile of dog shit and worse than when he left. But his presidency, before losing re-election wasn’t so bad that people won’t vote for him again, right?

But they didn't, and it's only gotten worse for him and R's since.

I get what you're saying though, that if people really feel they're not doing well, that will fall on Biden's head regardless of who the R candidate is, but I really feel Trump has too much stink on him and, for many, Biden was a return to normalcy and really just not having to hear about politics.

Born in 1987, nobody in my group was talking politics in high school or college to the point that they are now, and I don't even recall that there was a particular clique that was into politics either. College maybe a little bit more but still not in my group. Some of the same people I'm talking about that I still communicate with, are HUGELY political now and post frequently on social media about politics so from my personal experience it rings true? I think a lot of you are in the same age group as me (let's be broad and say 30-40) and how many of you can honestly say that in high school/college you were talking/paying attention to politics to the same extent that 14-18 year old's are now?

I honestly don't know how much more high school kids are paying attention to politics now. It might just seem that way because we are exposed to a vocal cohort of them via social media, and also because the focus of so much of politics now is culture war bullshit and other things that are largely targeted at and/or directly affect them.

i remember there was this really big album called American Idiot. I was reminded everyday about the existence of this album by these shirts that had grenades shaped like hearts on them.

I feel like kids are definitely waaaaay more politically aware and active today, just comparing my students to my cohort of friends in HS. But the idea that we were apolitical is funny and I loved the quote tweet in response haha
