These types of posters are so dumb because of the way they handle the dates.

I think I mentioned this before, but a few years ago I was at a record shop with a friend and they said to me "I went back and listened to Motion City Soundtrack and man, they don't hold up" and I was like "what the fuck are you talking about?"

I think MCS is an interesting story, cuz they were more influenced by 90s indie rock groups than punk groups. Bands like Blink tended to reference Descendents as big influences and while I'm sure they were influential to MCS, I heard bands like Superchunk, Flaming Lips, Jesus and Mary Chain in the like more namechecked in their influences so maybe that helped their music age really well. And imo for the most part, their music has aged significantly better than a lot of their contemporaries.

Josh just confirmed in their discord that they have been working on the tour/VIP package song from last year, but with everything going on with Justin they wanted to focus on that first.

CTTM is one of my all-time favorite albums. I was lucky enough that I ended up going to see them during the touring cycle for it when OKGO were the main support (back in their treadmill music video heydey). Both bands touring great albums, what a time!

I always thought Tony Thaxton was an underrated drummer on the scene in those days. Some absolute killer chops with probably the most famous one being in Time Turned Fragile.

I saw Justin do some solo shows maybe a year or two ago at Slam Dunk in the UK and was the nicest guy ever. That hair is even more enviable in real life.

I hope they come back to the UK soon. Appreciate they have been booked a few times but for various reasons not been over.

Also posted this in AAR thread. But im over from UK in Florida in september, but i think the shows in that month are literally opposite side of the country. Dont think i can justify it.

They’ve also, for the most part, aged better lyrically than most of their contemporaries. I can’t think of any “yikes” moments no matter how far back in their discography I go. That and they aren’t just a pop-punk band that wrote songs about the same old relationship drama. It’s a lot of stuff about mental health, etc.

A lot of their songs sound like stories or bits and pieces from their lives that felt very unique. Justin is very quirky and I love it.

Any lyrics that were “yikes” was more of a nerdy “yikes” instead of a problematic “yikes”. Case in point “In early ‘99 I beat the Ocarina of Time, I’m quite the legend in this town”. Great song though bahahaha

My friend brought his very religious girlfriend to a MCS show and she did not approve when they said goddamn in LGFUAD.
