So that probably means Nagelsmann to Chelsea…..ugh.

I wouldn’t be against Potter to Spurs if that happens though. I know it’s been bad at Chelsea but I don’t know how much of it is his fault. Always tough to come in mid season. Even tougher when your club is buying so many players and you struggle to make it all fit together.

Nagelsmann Chelsea v Tuchel Bayern in the semis would be so so so so good

  3. he’d be behind nagelsmann and slot and maybe another or two, but i’d def still take potter if they’re finally committing to a new spurs project

  4. Nagelsmann apparently somewhat of a Spurs fan though? I don’t know how true that is. But you’d hope if it is true that he’d pick us lol

I'm thinking Luis Enrique to Chelsea and Nagelsmann to Spurs. Enrique was only just talking up the Premier League this past week.

Spurs only know pain so it’ll be Nagelsmann to Chelsea and like Rodgers to spurs or something equally bad

Too late for a Napoli implosion? Currently 4-0 down at home to Milan...

Was trying to come up with a post-mortem but this basically covers it. Eriksen can play passes through the lines, and we need someone who can carry the ball between the lines, which makes his obsession with FDJ understandable. Casemiro needs a proper understudy to learn from/cover for him over the next couple of years so we can be prepared for that eventual transition. The need for a couple of new strikers speaks for itself.

Just dawned on me that Boehly has to pay out a 7 year contract!

I don’t understand how Chelsea is going to be adhering to FFP

They structure the payments over several years so it doesn't show up on one singular balance sheet, essentially. It's almost certain UEFA will "patch" FFP to fix this issue.

Even with staggered payments, it’s believed Chelsea need to sell this summer. With 30+ first team players, they’ll probably make quite a bit. Would be funnier if everyone just refused to buy their offcuts though.

I’m more curious about when is the point where managers don’t even bother taking the job there because it’s hopeless sorting that out

the whole culture of quick-sacking managers continues to baffle me. it seems to accelerate every year. if it continues, eventually people will take a new job and only get like 3 games before they’re ousted.

I can remember vaguely having a conversation about the idea of having a different manager for every game lol. I know it will never be that ridiculous...or will it?

Same, honestly. It's all just PR for big clubs.

  18. I agree 99% of the time. The 1% is Conte. He publicly insulted the club multiple times. I’m fine with that stuff coming out because it was already so obvious there were problems between Conte and the players/club.

    hmmm

Winning covers a multitude of sins, and losing invents just as many. I heard Carragher making a perceptive point a while back that if Alex Ferguson hadn't had the success he'd had you can guarantee there would have been leaks about how he never even leads training. Every minor weakness or delegated responsibility (or the reverse; "they're a control freak") gets used for character assassination in the press post-sacking.

Although I also think Potter was quite a poor fit for Chelsea.

What would folks consider the best run or smartest run PL clubs? I guess my criteria for that would how your front office is ran/is, manager (good hires/consistency), and then results relative to expectations/expenditures though I am open to changing that.

Chelsea brought in Brighton’s manager, one of their best players, and pretty much tried to bring over their entire staff and infrastructure; only for Brighton to hire a better manager that took them to a new level and has them 5 points ahead of Chelsea as well as 2 games in hand. That’s in the running for story of the season no two ways about it.

    Brentford are another one.

As much as it pains me to say, Manchester City are really well run too (ignoring the financial doping aspect). They planned for years in advance for Pep to come, built a squad for him, and have dominated the league for years. They have invested well in their academy as well.

i tore a hole in the fabric of time Moderator

I think Arsenal, despite a sag in results for a fair chunk of the last decade, handled the building of a new stadium, the transition from a coaching legend, and now getting a good young manager and squad going has been fairly pretty decent. I didn't think the Unai Emery years were that bad between Wenger and Arteta, either.
