Yeah I think I'm 2019 I remember everyone freaking out it was still in that tentative/pending status until really close to the fest

I've done mapping for 17 years.. when a client asks for a radius, they don't mean mapquest directions.

There's parts of Coachella's radius clause where there aren't even roads..

It's cool if Paramore end up playing Riot again, but I think they added that Milwaukee show last minute (like a day after the Lolla clause would have been null) and had nothing to with Riot

But you are ignoring that bands play both a Milwaukee show and Chicago festivals all the time. There are other acts on Lolla playing both this year.

I alluded to that multiple times (I may have deleted some of my posts lol). I've said it's not set in stone, I even gave an example of Joan Jett playing both cities in July..

Like you couldn't do a 90/90 clause in a ton of cities in the Northeast.. DC, Baltimore - Philly market/NYC market

My main point, which of course I always ramble and it gets lost.. that's my fault.. was just that I found it odd that Paramore added a Milwaukee show out of the blue in August basically a day after Lolla announced single day went on sale.. which TO ME, leads me to think Paramore and Lolla had a contract in place to play, they tried to work things out until the very end but it didn't happen for whatever reason which allowed them to book the Milwaukee show.. I hope that makes sense??.. if they are on Riot again, I'm totally fine with that but like right now I wouldn't jump to conclusion they are playing Riot especially with headliners (when Slayer played in 2019, they marketed it as the final Chicago/Milawukee show)

    peace & love, peace & love ..

The Piqniq lineup is so boring, and it's basically just an Incubus tour date with two extra bands. Gone are the days they actually had multiple cool bands playing and it wasn't just seen as a tour date stop for one headliner.

New places like Salt Shed, etc also probably make it harder for radio shows to book better acts for their own name promoted festivals..

Radio shows have mostly been this format for the last decade or so. Some stations do better than others based on location, general popularity of the station, etc. But it's primarily just package tours with a few bands tacked on in most areas.

The station in my area literally just took that Offspring/Sum-41/Simple Plan tour, slapped their name on it and is calling it their "birthday bash." But because the station is an active rock format... They are only promoting the fact that the Offspring are on it and ignoring the other two bands. LOL

Big downfall from like, 2003 when the bigger rock station in my area had the Dropkick Murphys headlining with Good Charlotte, Beck, Saliva, Jack Johnson, Evanescence, A.F.I., the Used, the Donnas, and Seether on the main stage (plus Jane's Addiction as a surprise guest). And a second stage that had the Ataris, Finch, Hot Hot Heat, Interpol, Dresden Dolls, and (hed)p.e.

I don't like all those bands. But it was an undeniably cool and relatively diverse line-up genre-wise. Those shows (in my area at least) were always such a cool "snapshot" of what the station was playing at that time.

I’d say that’s a confirmation for George Clinton.

Oh god. I saw this exact lineup in OC 5 years back and it was the weirdest show I’ve ever attended, period.

    Fishbone fucking ruled tho

    Give what you can.

George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic looking like they have a decent chance of playing. They just announced a tour that's skipping Chicago that ends on 8/26, but includes a one-off in Minneapolis on 9/16. Def will be my most anticipated set of the weekend if this happens.

There's also a P-Funk date in Omaha on 9/17 posted on Twitter. So either Friday or a Thursday "aftershow".

Do they still tour with George Clinton? I thought he retired a few years back and now it's just Parliament Funkadelic (I could be very wrong/something might have changed, so I'm just curious)

Yep- I think he's "unofficially retired" or something like that, but the dates announced today on BV do list him specifically.

That said, the Omaha date didn't show up there, but I do see it listed on the LiveNation site for Sunday the 17th. Three days in a row seems like a stretch given the fact that he's 81, so that does taper my hopes of him playing on Friday quite a bit. Fingers still crossed though.

Ah yes the first line there says "he stays unretired" haha so I guess he couldn't keep away. It would be an interesting addition to RF. I caught a bit of their set at Pitchfork a few years ago and it was a fun time. I'm not sure I'd call it a lock though, could definitely be a coincidence.
