  1. MANIA re-listen time. Finished FUCT this morning.

  2. I haven’t listened to this new album yet but now I’m nervous haha.

  3. and as corny as it sounds the 'if I can live through this, I can do anything' chorus just... hits sometimes.

Honestly, Champion goes hard when used during goals for hockey.

    Assume It's A Bit

My toxic trait is thinking I could sound like Patrick in the final chorus of Knife Trick

  10. I was just replying to the comment above my original one.

I’m waiting til I can listen to the new album in my headphones or my car before I listen to it at all.

I liked the one or two singles enough so I’m optimistic there will at least be a couple songs I’m into on it.

  11. you should hear me try to do “I’ve got all this ringing” in the car

Just when I was starting to tell people Hot Mulligan was my favorite band... Fall Out Boy gone done it again.

There's just such a clarity, push and pull and dancy-ness combined done to perfection on this one. And it's what Fall Out Boy always does pretty amazingly but these songs are just super interesting and exciting which I haven't felt about this band since IOH.

I can pick out songs from MANIA, SRAR, ABAP that scratch the Fall Out Boy itch but this album is chef's kiss for me in a way I felt about IOH, TTYG and FUCT.

  17. Why do you hate Folie?

lol, nah I dig Folie. I loved it when it came out but I don't really find myself revisiting it.

I probably mostly at least like everything they've done maybe except Centuries for obvious reasons.

a friend said this was the worst fall out boy record because it had zero hooks

    and just.... you what?

also re: album tours, I'd love it if on an album tour they featured heavily new songs, and then the second time around it was more a mix. gives more of an incentive to go to the album tours if you're into the record. there's been a fair number of times I've not bothered seeing a band I like because the set is usually the same predictable songs in a different order.

It’s hard to compare anything from recent years to that 1975 tour. I wish more bands tried as hard as they did with aesthetic and mood instead of just having a gigantic screen behind them. I also think album release tours should always be heavy on the new album, and then do the greatest hits in between cycles, but that’s just me. I understand budgetary restraints vary from band to band as well, so this is just in a perfect world.

The world would be a better place if bands focused on their newer material live.

I have the same thoughts about Emo Nite and the like. I'd love to get down to the new Paramore or more modern "pop-punk" bands like Hot Mulligan, and not just hear the same 2002-2006 hits every damn time, but I guess nostalgia is what gets people through the door.

For sure. It’s kinda frustrating when people dismiss the entire thing when I feel like a lot of them just listened to Champion and Y&M and called it a day. I don’t think it’s an amazing record overall but there’s some genuinely good stuff there like the three songs you mentioned.

  24. I still think this would be a cool norm:

When a band puts out a new album, the first big tour they do is a full album show with an encore of the hits. And then a year later when they want to tour again, a “regular” setlist. Rinse, repeat.
