I hope this leads to more WW2 set "smart people behind the scenes" type movies.

Still waiting for the "meteorologists who did the weather forecasting for the D Day landings" movie, because that story is surprisingly very compelling.

    Fight the long defeat.

Maybe for this movie, Chris's time trope will be keeping audiences in their seats for that long. /s

Excited to see this, come July.

It has to be 3 hours. How else will each of the big name 20 cast members have screen time

Interstellar is listed as 2h49m though (which I would also say is a 3h movie)

Whichever trailer they're playing for this before Air is among the best movie previews I've ever seen.

Do we think the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki will be spoken of?

Word going around Twitter is that Oppenheimer has been pushed to the end of the year for awards consideration.

That said, the source is kind of weird -- it's this interview with Cannes Film Festival head Thierry Fremaux

I could see the move being real if Universal really thinks they have an Oscar-caliber movie on their hands. That said, RIP Barbie/Oppenheimer double feature day.

The only benefit to releasing it at the end of the year would be that it would be more prevalent on the minds of the awards people? How would releasing it during the summer be any worse? I thought movies released throughout the whole year are considered

no thanks I love to see a Nolan movie in the summer

  19. Moving it to a probably already crowded Thanksgiving/Christmas for awards season would be especially dumb considering that last year's best picture winner came out in March. If the movie is great, people will remember it.

People seem to think that people have a harder time remembering movies that come out at the start of the year. I don’t think there is anything to back it up. But that’s why all the biggest intentional Oscar contenders come out later in the year.

This is dumb. The Trinity test was in July. Keep the release in July.

I feel like it's possible he was confusing Oppenheimer's release date with another movie? Obviously he's a credible source, but the way he says it kind of offhand without implying it's a delay makes me think he may be thinking of another movie's release date. Or at least I hope so.

It definitely feels like a weird source for this to come from. Also weird that Universal didn’t address yet.

    but we’ll see!

also Nolan only typically wins technical Oscars, I think Ledger was the only acting one he's gotten
