That’s the thing. If you’re doing Leon/Colby and Belal/Shavkat, who does Usman fight? Him and Burns aren’t going to fight again unless it’s for a belt and we don’t need to see the Jorge fight. Next in rankings is Wonderboy.

Great card. Leon showed off some amazing takedown defense and still had enough to out strike him. Justin is a beast. Maia is now an insanely good boxer? I loved it all.

I’d love to watch Wonderboy vs Usman.

A fight with Whittaker would be amazing.

  5. Leon said he’s gonna stick to his guns and he won’t sign a bout agreement to fight Colby unless he goes and gets a win in the top 5 or 6.

When Leon sat out over a year he was removed from the rankings. He said Colby has Dana White privilege lmao

Good for Leon. Colby doesn’t deserve a shot at all. It’s insane with a division with two fighters that obviously deserve a shot more than Colby (Belal, Burns), he’s the one getting picked. Hell I’d even say Usman and Shavkat would be more deserving. Dudes had like five fights in 4 years and lost two of them lol

Prime example where the UFC is completely fine ignoring the rankings in favor of what they think will make them the most money.

Like why tf was he even interviewed 3 times after the fights this weekend? Why is mmajunkie and the rest posting so much about him. It’s 100% Dana White privilege.

It’s just bad promotion. I don’t understand why he was said it was so set in stone when Jorge fights in literally weeks. If he wins that, that’s a bigger fight imo.

The only fight Rob should take if not for a title.

  10. I’d bet a lot that Rob fights Khamzat next

It feels that way. Would be silly to book before the Alex/Izzy fight though. If Alex wins, Rob should get next.

I don’t see Chimaev bullying his opponents as well as he did at 170. Pereira and Izzy’s length + height/counter striking would make takedowns much more challenging. Rob is super well rounded and mainly only struggles with being short lol. I don’t think the impressive moments he’s had in striking will show up in those fights either.

But I’m always happy to be surprised by a good fight.

  13. Quite a step up in competition for him

Funny how fight night cards are suddenly getting better now that they're finally shifting from the APEX.

Vera/Sandhagen is such a good fight. Very excited for it tomorrow.

Just bought my tickets for UFC in Kansas City in a couple of weeks. I can't wait!

Side note - it's depressing how much literally everything costs nowadays. Pretty sure I paid more for nosebleed seats this time around than I did to be on the floor at the last UFC I went to.

Yeah I’ve been thinking about this lately. After every event it’s like ‘it was a record gate!’ and it’s like ok cool but these events all sell out and tickets are only going up and up so of course it’s going to break the previous record.

I think I enjoy them much more at home. Not a single seat I could afford would provide as good of a view, and then considering the general crowd these events would draw is a no for me dawg.

I’ve been to two UFCs, three Strikeforce, and one Bellator… much of my experience depends on the people I’m sitting by. Whenever you sit on the floor, you can hardly see anything at times but you can either have a GREAT time with the other people in the crowd or you can be pissed off the entire time lol

But it’s just crazy price-wise now. I remember “splurging” on $100 floor tickets at Strikeforce back in the day and hanging out with Dan Henderson and Fabricio Werdum lol now we are spending $120 to be at the very top row of this UFC Fight Night.

  21. I’ve been trying to follow the middleweight matchmaking mess from some fighters on twitter and it seems like the general consensus is

Khamzat will fight Rob if Izzy beats Alex.

Khamzat will fight Costa if Alex beats Izzy. Which I guess would put Rob in a title fight against Alex.

If Alex wins Rob absolutely should get next. Only way he fights again is if Izzy wins.

  23. Dan Miragliotta should maybe stick to reffing lol

That decision was absolutely atrocious. I don’t know how anyone could give Barber a 30-27 when she was being controlled on the ground half of the fight lol

How the fuck was that a split decision?!
