    "I'll chew on a dog!"

Patrick said that Pete is a naturally interesting guy so when he walks into a room, everyone looks at him. You either accept the attention fame brings or shun it. Pete chose it.

I think the only full phrase I understood in Hold Me Like A Grudge was “hold me like a grudge.” But I liked it. I need lyrics.

I listened to Joe’s book in a couple big spurts over the last six months and feel like I got to know him so much better as a person through that. Knowing how much the band has meant to him and being able to pick out parts in a lot of these tracks that scream “this is Joe” is really heartwarming to me.

oh true this is insanely sick. it’s kind of shocking how good it is tbh. Fake Out, Heaven, Iowa, and the title track are my favourites right now.

Oh shit... this is the best FOB album in 15 years. This is EXACTLY what I've been wanting them to do ever since they came back, it really does sound like the perfect followup to FAD. It feels so good being so excited listening to an album by them again, and I can't WAIT for the tour now.

Fake Out immediately stuck out to me the most on first listen, what a fucking chorus. Also loved both singles, Hold Me Like a Grudge, Flu Game and the last three tracks but the rest is rapidly growing on me too

    Welcome back Fall Out Boy

This is... fine? Idk, didn't have the highest expectations so it's not like it's a big letdown, everything is solid enough but I really didn't like So Good Right Now and Flu Game, some of their worst tracks.

The only Folie comparison I'm hearing is Hold Me Like a Grudge.

Goddamn that was fantastic. Just finished my first listen and really enjoyed the album. Band is firing on all cylinders here, and while I'm skipping the Ethan Hawke interlude in the future, the songs here are excellent. The run from "Hold Me Like a Grudge" -> "Fake Out" -> "Heaven, Iowa" is one of their best in their career. I can tell I'm gonna wear this one out. Welcome back FOB. :iloveyou:

This is so easily the most I have liked anything this band have done in 15 years. Very happy to be into them again.

  17. Pleased by my first listen. Hold Me Like A Grudge, What A Time To Be Alive, and the title track are immediate favorites and the last one in particular blew me away. It's like proto-early Muse and I wasn't expecting to hear such a dark sounding song. I hope they lean more into that vibe in the future, samesies regarding What A Time To Be Alive. The funkier the better.

There's a small part of me that does wish there was one more song that went as hard as Love From The Otherside sonically, but I appreciate the variety of sounds displayed. I'll have to give it a few listens to pay more attention to the other unreleased songs.

I agree and I thought of your recent posts in the thread during my listen. It has nods to their past and to Patrick's solo era but overall it's really not that different from what they've been doing for the past decade. To my ears, with the way they upped the live instrumentation to 11, it sounds similar to the live renditions of some of their poppier AB/AP and Mania material. Heaven Iowa could totally be on both, even though it has a rockier climax.

By far the best album since Folie. 1-4 and 11-13 are good. The middle seems pretty weak on first listen. Happy to be excited to listen to new stuff from these guys again.

Whew Hold Me Like a Grudge is good stuff. Patrick oversings sometimes, but when he finds a good groove pocket there's few people better at melodies. Already the most I've liked something since SRAR, and considering FAD is my favorite of theirs I feel good about the rest of the album.

EDIT: WHOA when Heaven, Iowa kicks in

Definitely their best since Folie, although, I do love me some SR&R. This is just more my cup of tea when it comes to FOB. The guitars are more than welcomed.

    1st half hits HARD.

This could a be a summer of FOB, Paramore, and blink-182. Let's see if blink will get something out before its too late for that lol.

Finished my first listen. Absolutely incredible.

Could live without the two interludes though lol.

Overall, this is awesome and I'm so glad to hear new FOB in 2023.
