"Grudge", "Fake Out" and "Heaven" is a fucking run of songs my goodness

 

The run of tracks 1-5 and then 11-13 crush

 

The title track is just so fucking good. Top tier closer.

Immediately deleted that ethan hawk track after one listen. Immediate album improvement!

Fake Out is so damn good.

 

I was in this music video as well! What a fun and weird 3-4 days. Initially I was only supposed to be in one crowd shot with a bunch of super fans, but when I showed up those fans were giving off some weird energy going super deep into wild theories and their love for Pete.

One of the crew noticed that I was sitting by myself off to the side and bumped me from that group to a paid extra and I got to be part of all the days of the shoot. So random but a fun memory. I was one of the life size cut outs they walk through in the beginning. I asked a PA if I could take the cut out of me home but they said no way. lol

 

Glad the weather is cooperating. In the 80s and I can throw this on and roll the windows down and its somehow even better

That's so funny, I don't think she got paid, but she was also chosen to be one of the cut outs and got to come back for all the days.

 

the last FOB album i listened to was SRAR. it had some good stuff on it but some stuff that didnt do much for me. i heard a couple songs off AB/AP and kinda hated them (Centuries and Uma Thurman maybe). i never gave Mania a chance and listened to a song or two a couple months ago and was not feeling it.

but the singles for this album made me excited for Stardust and im digging it. Fake Out, Hold me like a Grudge and the title track seem like standouts. What a Time to Be Alive is something. not sure if i love it or hate it. haha.

 

That's wild! Then we definitely hung out for 3 days nearly 17 years ago which makes me laugh and also cringe because time is a weird mother fucker.

 

Well I'm impressed.

What A Time To Be Alive and So Good Right Now aren't bad but just not for me. First one I feel like I'm listening to the Village People, and So Good I half expect Meghan Trainor to come in on the 2nd verse.

Two spoken word interludes are super easy skips, just short interludes so no big mark against there really.

The rest, amazing across the board.

I give it 9 broccoli fields out of 10.

 

"So Good Right Now" will never be a favourite but it doesn't overstay its welcome and I like the post-second-chorus stuff. Not wild about capital-t Topical Pandemic Songs but "What a Time to Be Alive" is just too damn Soul Punk not to like

 

Heaven, Iowa is massive, damn

 

I wish this had come out sooner - it’s such a great pandemic record

 

I’m also not in love with the closer as much as some of you - too slow for me

"heartbreak feels so good" would work best as a Forza Horizon track.... the closing iteration of the hook would work so well as a finish line cue lol

 

I don't know what sorta deal Patrick Stump struck with whoever but goddamn

no matter my previous mixed feelings about this band (haven't been excited pre-release like this since Folie) his voice has aged like fine wine and this is HITTING three songs in
