i fell off pretty instantly with it, but ill give it another listen.

 

Hmm, not super blown away on first listen. The last three were pretty instant for me, but I’m excited to keep listening!

 

Save Rock and Roll was just dissapointing after how much i loved Folie. AB/AP is just the worst. Mania, ill admit i probably didnt give a fair shake on release and i need to relisten a few times.

 

Every "post-hiatus" record is a smidge better than the last imo, although this one is pretty instantly doing things for me that the others really didn't.

 

I haven't liked a full record of theirs since SRAR so, i get it.

 

And I won't have a valid opinion about this new one until probably after the weekend.

"What a Time to Be Alive" has been stuck in my head since I first heard it. Fucking amazing song.

What A Time To Be Alive, my favorite. However, he mentioned in the early listening party commentary that all of his brass was completely removed as they ended up having an orchestra come in who the day prior had been working on Indiana Jones 5, so he let it slide haha

Excited for tomorrow. I’m on the side of Mania being a huge miss from them, so for me, it can only go up. I’ve tried multiple times to go back, but can never get into it.

 

According to the track-by-track they did for MoreCore.TV, Pete’s daughter Marvel is making the howling noises at the end of Ten Years.

 

The album artwork is cool and the back cover is even cooler, but it would be that much better if they would share the meaning behind the dog being so front and center. I think tomorrow’s our last chance to be told in all honesty. Otherwise, maybe a fan m&g one day. Although them asking what the dog’s name was on social media this week gave me a glimmer of hope.

for added context: I spoke in depth with the incredible artist (Mr. Oz) behind the claymation work done to kickoff the album cycle and then again used for the text on the cover. He told me he was given the opportunity to create the cover should he provide something they liked better than the image of the dog. He came up with a ton of concepts and in the end they just used the dog anyway. An obvious emotional hit, but has me just as stuck wondering why the dog means so much to them and the depiction of the album. He asked and was not answered. :/

 

Arms Race is one of their best videos so I’m excited.

I really dislike so good and flu but most of this is massive. More thoughts later. Muse is just a behemoth and ten years is gorgeous.

It's been years since I've seen Reality Bites, but I saw it in high school at a point where I couldn't relate to it. Now "The Pink Seashell" hits hard being in my 30s, and having a cautiously optimistic / slightly nihilistic point of view on things. Love it. I need to rewatch Reality Bites.
