My perspective on hardcore pits now vs back in the 2000s and 2010s is that back then, you generally had fewer people doing hard stuff like targeting people and crowd killing. And they would more commonly knock random people that they didn’t know. Now a days I see that there are more people pitting in general but they are generally targeting people or groups they know, so it’s actually more contained in that sense. Unless you are stage diving where it’s harder to avoid strangers. The amount of people I see at shows now that hit someone or get hit and then are dapping each other up, laughing with each other is quite funny and wholesome in a weird way.

I fully understand moshing. It's not my thing. But it's generally pretty easy to avoid. Sure, you might not be able to get right up to the stage or whatever but... Do you really need to do that anyway? And in my experience, people are pretty good these days about telling who does/doesn't want to participate. And it generally feels pretty communal too. I genuinely love to see it.

Stage-diving and crowd-surfing can fuck right off, though. Those are purely selfish acts.

stage diving is only a problem if the person doesn't know how to dive properly or weighs 250lbs+

Stage diving is fine to me for hardcore and no barrier shows. I just wish more people knew how to do it, especially the way to turn your body so that you can roll right off someone and not be in the way. People standing on stage pointing at people in the crowd to catch them is so painful to watch. Also falling onto the crowd is stupid bc no one can catch you and make sure you are safe if you just collapse on them.

Moshing/stage diving/crowd surfing is funny to watch from a distance, but it does suck to get caught off guard or hit by someone doing it. Not the worst thing in the world, but I've always just been a side of the room person anyway...that and I'm 6'7 and kind of know my place too haha

really hope the Offspring\Sum 41 tour is like Summer Nationals. stage in a parking lot
having to watch those bands play to a bunch of seats will suck

Kinda wild a SM person would just provide that info out to some rando asking about it.

Any idea who they might be playing with? Maybe someone on Sick New World too?

Offspring tour only amphitheaters? What a waste.

To chime in on the pit talk. Idk about haedcore shows but honestly, if I can't pit (which for me is essentially just circling, pogoing, and is as safe as it comes, I just like the energy) then I'm not really interested. At this point, 150 shows. I don't know anything else.

I saw Incubus last Summer and wasn’t jonesning for them again this year but I just needed a reason to use this since the Incubus tour has been talked about for so long.
