I ended up preordering this despite being very on the fence because of the less than great album cover. I’ve just grown to really love the singles.

 

I actually think that album cover is stellar and classy, love it! I'm so hyped to hear Sufjan on the first track as well!

 

They’ve never had great album art aside from Boxer, imo.

 

Interesting opinion. I think they've had 6 great albums: Alligator-I Am Easy To Find, maybe not all perfect but also perfect is not something that really exists anyways.

IMO, every National record sans the first ranges between a 7.5-8.5/10. Remarkably consistent band.

If a National fan is acting up over the lack of an instrument, the addition of secondary vocals, or any of Matt Berninger’s lyrics from the most recent 10 years, etc, you can just refer to them by their scientific name “High Violet fan”.

 

I think Eucalyptus was my least favorite of the live tracks, so not looking forward to the single. Grease in Your Hair and the clips for Aliens sound sick as fuck though.
