This is a big part of the issue with Bray for sure. Creative seems to test the waters a bit with stuff like Asuka’s creepy antics and such, but they have almost completely abandoned the spooky/paranormal type gimmicks. Taker used to be a stable backbone for them and it seemed like it could still work even with his minimized presence. But like you said, now it’s just awkward and feels forced. They could run with something with factions like Judgement Day, but opted for the whole generic kinda-dark but safe/goofy bit for them.

It’s a shame in a way since there is a lot of potential with Bray and he can put together great in ring work. That Mountain Dew atrocity was a huge setback after a slow burn that felt like it could be going somewhere interesting.
