Very happy that EEAAO got so much love. Before awards season, that kind of recognition for a movie like didn't even feel possible. Also this movie came out in March, and it's a testament to its staying power that it has remained in the conversation all year. Other than Elvis and Top Gun, all the other noms were released in the US during awards season.

Didn't love The Whale, but I'm happy for Fraser. Also happy Naatu Naatu won. RRR rules.

 

Really cannot believe EEAOO ended up being the only movie in history to win Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Original Screenplay and Editing - those are huge categories. Big Oscar winners typically didn’t have all those acting categories as well.

It was my favorite film of the year but idk kinda wish some of the wealth was spread out a bit more for others like TAR or Fabelmans. But happy to all involved.

A24 cleaned up last night. The Whale and All Quiet are dogshit movies and shouldn’t have won anything really. Best cinematography, best score and best make up for those movies? Really???

 

I hated Sasha Stone as an Oscar columnist, then as a Clinton Democrat, and now as a Trump apologist.

Listened to Will Meneker's take on Tár on CTH's first ever Movie Mindset pod and I honestly think he convinced he that it might be the best of the BP nominees.

I need to see it again through the lens of it being a highly symbolistic Kubrick-like film not tethered to reality.
