The "making of" featurette was a super enjoyable watch. The production design team just really hit this out of the park.

 

So there are now new quotes from Craig Mazin that say Part II will be more than one season, but they aren't going to confirm how many seasons it will take. So at least two seasons, but it could potentially be more.

 

Since they’re going to milk part 2 into multiple seasons then hopefully them “heavily exploring” Joel and Ellie relationship post S1 means we get episodes of what happened between game 1 and 2.

 

I think it's unfair to say 'milk' when part II is twice as long as the first game, has many, many side characters you could detour on and expand like Bill and Frank, and is overall just a bigger game and story. Off the top of my head... Lev & Yara, the prophet, Isaac, back story of Abby and her dad, all the flashbacks with Joel and Ellie etc. Any and all of those could be expanded into meaningful story

This title is also a little click baity.

- Yes, it'll be different from s1, the same as part II is different than part 1.
- The game (it's been debated here already) but to me has more infected than part 1 anyway. Think about the beginning of the part II (when we are introduced to a certain someone) and then the limitations of the PS3 that weren't there on the PS4 (IE - much larger scale of combat). many moments in pt II are of infected being pitted against humans and more horde encounters including the beginning when Abby is running from like a 100 of them
- It was never in doubt to anyone but trolls that Bella would be returning.
- There were infected left out of the 1st season and again, no one should be worried that they're conjuring anything out of thin air due to audience feedback.

 

Pretty amazing how they got an actress for Ellie's Mom that looks exactly like Ellie

 

can't tell if you already know this so forgive me if you do, but it's because she originally played Ellie, so it's more that they were able to get a new Ellie to look like her, rather than the other way around

 

The more I think about them not confirming 2 seasons for Part II, but confirming it’ll be more than 1 season, it honestly makes me think they might be planning to do 3 seasons for it. That way they have the extra room for fleshing out side characters and having more infected.

 

I would like that.

Thought the finale was pretty great.

My minor quibble for the season as a whole would have been more time seeing Joel & Ellie traveling, and possibly having more encounters with the infected once they got further out west. It does kinda end up feeling like after that insane nighttime scene with all of the infected climbing out of the ground and the big chubby one ripping that dude's head off that the infected sorta disappeared from the show aside from flashbacks. In hindsight I feel like 10 episodes would have been nice, but at the same time I know they combined the Boston stuff into 1 episode and I don't feel like we needed more time in Boston.

Minor nitpicks for me though, this show was absolutely fantastic.

 

No Anna Torv does not play Tess in the game

 

You thought 9-10 year old Bella Ramsey voiced Ellie? Interesting.

 

I have never thought Ellie looks anything like Ashley. I know there was that controversy where they totally ripped off Elliot Page's likeness for the original character design and had to change it to more resemble Ashley, but it's still a dead ringer for Page to me.

 

I do think it's really cool that they made sure all (or at least most) of the main characters in the game got a chance to be involved in some capacity.

I think ultimately I'm team Joel-did-nothing-wrong. One area I feel his actions really touched on was that he didn't want to fail another daughter when he could have otherwise saved them. He spent a portion of the episode finally talking about Sarah after shutting down any mention of her for the whole season, so it makes sense that hearing that Ellie was going to die triggered this response. We also got the most video game moment of the series, and it was brutal.
