I think you need 100% chance it will work before scooping out someone's brain not an educated hunch

You can tag if you want to, as far as s1 stuff goes. But now that it aired, you don’t have to. Do as you wish for s1 stuff.

I don’t think he should have lied to her at the end. I do agree with that. But everything before that, I’m fine with.

The story can be anything a writer wants it to be (let’s pretend part 2 doesn’t exist in this context).

But Ellie is not disposable to Joel. Ellie has value beyond being a potential cure. A fair reply is that the Fireflies also have value. But since they were willing to sacrifice a child for a potential cure, I feel like they made their decision and this is the consequence of that choice.

I’m Team Joel, no friend is being left behind.

The moral debate around Ellie's agency (or lack thereof) is interesting. Centering the debate around the cure is really funny to me cause I just don't believe that they can do it. Joel is simply 100% in the right there as far as I'm concerned cause all that likely would've happened if he left Ellie there is the Fireflies would've killed the only known immune person with nothing to show for it

Ideally, ya, and that's why there were so many moments throughout the season to establish that the Fireflies are no heroes either.

Disposable to the fireflies is what I meant. Which she clearly is, because they tried to dispose of her.

Loved the finale, the giraffe scene was perfect.

The wait between now and the next season is going to suck lol.

One of the more realistic parts of the show is how imperfect the resistance is

In the vaguest of terms, you all are arguing the right stuff, and picking up on questions that are meant to be asked. There's a reason the game is called part II and not just # 2. There are corners of the internet that disagree vehemently, but at least from what the game (imo!) did, it took everything that happened in part 1 and continued the story in a logical / coherent manner and wasn't just 'lets have another post apocalyptic adventure'.

I have been amazed at how well that they have handled all the fan favorite moments. Besides some parts in Bill's town, I don't think there was a scene/conversation that held weight to fans that was cut or messed with.

And agreed. I really hope that it's a fall of 2024 release and not a spring/summer 2025 release. However, we still continue to be blessed with excellent television everywhere, so I'll find things to watch in the mean time. Heck, I'll probably play the game at least once more before then as well..

Also - HBO should just go ahead and renew for a S3 now. It seems odd for them to be saying they'll split the story between 2 when a 3rd isn't guaranteed. I can't imagine anything will happen to the quality of the show that S2 will tank and leave an unfinished narrative, but just get that announcement out of the way now and let production / filming on both seasons run simultaneously.

I think the rumor is House of the Dragon is either going to be Summer or Fall 2024. If HBO wanted to line up what I'm guessing are right now it's two biggest draws to keep subscribers for longer, they could try and get them back to back, getting a longer run of that sweet sweet subscriber money while also having a show that can compete against the NFL for sunday night eyeballs. So maybe we get HOTD end of July-end of September and then Last Of Us October-mid December. That would be a nice run (but also the busiest time of the year for me with the start of the school year so, that would kind of suck for me haha.

But I wouldn't be surprised if we're looking more winter 2025 tbh, starting to air in February just like this season did.

The few non-game player people I've talked to about the finale were all a little disappointed with it.

Also, Neil Druckmann is going to be on Kinda Funny today (don't know if they'll go into Part 2 spoilers)

And then Neil and Craig are supposed to be on The Ringer's Prestige TV pod with Mallory Rubin and Joanna Robinson this week. I say should because Joanna said it was pending any schedule changes.

I feel like I remember people being disappointed with the ending when the game first came out too.

  24. I thought the finale was perfect, very faithful to the game while adding a beautiful scene at the beginning. It's been ten years and I still can't say whether I'm 100% team Joel and that's why the ending is so beautiful.
