There’s a lot of reasons I think the Oscars shouldn’t exist, but already seeing incredibly dumb backlash against an actual original, interesting win is up there.

Everything Everywhere All at Once probably "deserved" to win because it was a huge organic success with an audience. It wasn't made in a laboratory to win awards (their last movie was about a farting corpse) and it maintained a momentum for a long period of time. The Fabelmans was better, but Aftersun was better than all of them.

I wish The Quiet Girl or Close had won best international film

 

I mean the concepts they explore in that movie and in Ricky and Morty have been done time and time again by Star Trek and Marvel comics for decades. In fact I am pretty sure R&M ripped a lot of their stuff Jonathan Hickman's run on Fantastic Four. Multiverse is not exactly an original idea.
