New MSPAINT goes hard. I'll get to Skourge and Judiciary eventually.

I want an instrumental version of the MSPAINT record. The vocal melodies are too samey throughout and the Coby Shaddix similarity starts to wear on me after a bit.

Close friend of mine said he saw a subreddit voting on the top 20 most influential/best hardcore songs ever. We didn’t agree with some and they’re not even halfway done, so we made our own lists based on our own experiences growing up with the genre, popularity and influence, etc etc. and I thought it’d be fun to bring over here. In no particular order other than how they came to me mentally:

    1. American Nightmare - (We Are)
    2. Minor Threat - Minor Threat
    3. Converge - The Saddest Day
    4. Blacklisted - WAMD or IAWMD
    5. Black Flag - Rise Above
    6. Have Heart - Armed With A Mind
    7. The Hope Con - Hope Bound Heart
    8. Modern Life Is War - Marshalltown
    9. Sick Of It All - Scratch The Surface
    10. Verse - From Anger and Rage
    11. Killing The Dream - 39th and Glisan
    12. Gorilla Biscuits - New Direction
    13. Trapped Under Ice - Stay Cold
    14. No Warning - Short Fuse
    15. The Suicide File - Fuck Fox News
    16. Ceremony - Kersed
    17. Integrity - Abraxas Annihilation
    18. Slapshot - What’s At Stake
    19. Judge - Take Me Away
    20. Youth of Today - Make A Change

Obviously very opinion-based so have fun with it. We just didn’t think people understood the assignment when we saw ppl listing Saetia, Boysetsfire, Glassjaw, etc lol.

The new Judiciary rules. The absolute perfect blend of hardcore and metal for me.

Bad Brains makes sense and yes, was no. 1 on the subreddit. I personally don’t revisit Bad Brains often.

I gotta say that I would change out Have Heart to Watch Me Rise and Modern Life is War to Dead Ramones respectively.

This is the first time I've heard it compared to Papa roach and now I can't unhear it. Thanks Chris.

DEADRAMONES is their most streamed song ever. Definitely find Marshalltown to be my personal overall standout while growing up listening/seeing them/following online.

I also could’ve put Reality Unfolds but same deal.

Listened to that Skourge LP like five times yesterday, not a single wasted riff. Extremely worth the wait. Need to see them again.

All I'm gonna say is that there probably is a reason it's their most streamed song ever but you can't argue with personal connections to songs. If that was the case, Midnight in America might be in the lead for me.

The Sunami line up here is stacked. Gonna be wild I think.

I know this is a hot take but I’m kind of over Sunami.

Yeah I’m gonna give the LP a shot but there are other heavy hardcore bands on their own record label with much more interesting songwriting

Sunami is dumb as hell but seems like a fun live show and they’re obviously in on the joke

I mean playing dumb as hell hardcore (along with ties to the Bay Area scene which is all the hype these days) has gotten them some level of success so I get it: ride it out while you can.

Their new record should come with a warning: brain cells will be lost listening to this.
