  1. i really thought the TV albums were going to be coming out much more frequently, initially haha.

It sounds like dogshit, is what it sounds like.

I feel like she'll want to hold off for a time when she's not already top-of-mind in the way she naturally will be on her first tour in years. But you could be right!

There are some theories out there that she ended up getting her masters back in a behind-the-scenes deal and therefore does not have the same motivation to devalue the original recordings. I think that's a bit far-fetched, but I agree, definitely thought we'd get two a year at least.

She might wait for the tenth anniversary, ouch, of 1989 next year

This makes a ton of sense.

I would hope if she got her masters back like the rumor Craig mentioned is true, she'd still do a like "From the Vault" EP series for the remaining four after seeing how immensely popular the vault tracks have been.

honestly don't really buy the whole "she's gonna scrap the recordings because she got her masters back" theory. if she did get them back, why is she still discussing her plans to rerecord everything? it's clearly worked well for her, and people mostly seem to enjoy the newer versions with her matured vocals. she's likely gonna do what makes more money, and to rerecord her albums with a ton of new songs seems like a safe way to do that - compared to simply marketing her original recordings, assuming she got them back.

  6. I've said it once or twice, but... I'd just be so mad if we never get a Debut TV. So I'm not going to even blink an eye at that rumor.

Based on my experience with Fearless vs Red, I’m quite interested in hearing her debut re-recorded. But, the later albums’ TVs would have no value for me outside of bonus tracks if the masters thing was solved.

I'd be so bummed spending so much money just to hear a bunch of medley's.

I think there’s a cutoff where the new versions aren’t going to really be adding anything vocally that wasn’t already there. (I personally feel Red was already that point, but 1989 and Reputation seem especially like they would be diminishing returns as re-records.) I definitely want the TV of the self-titled, and I’m curious to see how she handles Speak Now given how a couple of those songs have aged. Honestly do not need carbon copy versions of the first two pop Taylor records though. Just gimme the vault tracks and I’m set.

Like, the lyrics to “Cold As You” accurately describe how I’d feel if I didn’t get a new version of “Cold As You” sung by adult Taylor.

I need that song and “Mary’s Song” Taylor’s-Version-ized.

The only thing I want to hear re-recorded is her holiday EP. That easily has her worst vocal performances across her catalog.

I have not enjoyed a single re-recorded track. The ones where she wasn’t strong in the original recording have enough personality for me to overlook how “good/bad” it is.

I mean I grew up listening to pop-punk and have enjoyed many demos from these bands. I don’t need a pitch perfect vocal performance for me to enjoy a song.

I should finally put my various, occasionally deeply personal thoughts about Fearless into proper writing some time this year. But, the re-recorded version of that core 13-song album is absolutely brilliant. Such a heartfelt & fun look back at one’s youth from the perspective of someone growing beyond that time, but still remembering it fondly.

I much prefer almost every re-record so far to the original, minus the big hits on Red probably. overall I just feel like the performances are stronger and the production is better almost entirely across the board, and I was never a fan of hers until pretty recently so I don’t quite have the emotional attachment/familiarity/nostalgia that others do and I think that goes a long way to help me not feel like there’s something “off” about the re-recordings that I have seen a lot of long-time fans say they feel. I’d definitely be bummed if, for whatever reason, she decided not to go forward with the TV releases of the rest of the records.

The Red pop songs are all so bad on re-record. I really don't know what happened there.

No Max Martin. Which is why I can be ok never getting 1989 (TV)

Yeah I never listen to her re-records except for the vault tracks, and once or twice through when the re-recorded albums first came out

Idk, I feel like Max's brilliance is in the creative side of the job; any number of producers or engineers should be able to help Taylor replicate the sound of a Max production that already exists. It's not like he was doing super off-the-wall stuff with the production that no one else could do.

I think the issue with the Red re-record is that those songs capture such a particular sense of early 20s tumult that hearing her sing them in her early 30s had an almost uncanny valley sensation to it. And so the new "22" or the new "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" end up having this kind of cringey "How do you do, fellow kids" energy, whereas the Fearless revisit felt like a much more natural look back at her teenage self.

Or maybe I've just heard Red so many times that hearing the redone versions was always going to be strange.

  21. Do you think if we didn’t know her age or that they were re-recordings, we’d still think they feel stale compared to the “other” versions?

    @FurtherFromSky Moderator

I mean, she 100 percent sounds too old to be singing "22," haha. I don't think there's any getting around that.

Why has she been so damn quiet? it's a week till tour and this girl has been weirdly silent. I honestly though that because today is 3/10 and it adds up to 13 that we would get SOMETHING today. but nope.

I wasn't talking about tour (which I'm not going to). I'm talking about music, the re-recordings. I honestly thought we'd have Speak Now TV at this point.
