I don't know, I think the details do matter. Posts here are read by a lot of people who don't necessarily join the conversation. It's good if people have the right information when taking this stuff elsewhere where people might not share the same values that most people do on chorus. Only reason why we got derailed is because people assumed bad intentions in the original poster.

Both sides are kind of devolving though so we should move on.

That was 100% the most annoying back and forth I’ve read in quite a while.

 

because its the chorus.fm accountability threads, painting with a broad brush is the name of the game. no matter what a person does or doesn't do, they will be referred to as an abuser/rapist/pedo 20 pages down the road.

Maybe it’s a naive take, but despite how it appears right now, a lot of good discussion comes out of this thread and it’s a shame whenever it turns into a dumpster fire.

not sure if it's old news or not but it's going around on insta that finn mckenty/punk rock mba started dating his wife when she was 17 and he was 37. kinda sus! not really surprising given him having abusers like jonny craig on his pod before but yeah.

 

His wife also really fuckin sucks based on her shitty youtube channel. Awful couple

Well, add that to the list... He was briefly in a FB group called "libertarian men with asian wives." His wife also has a YouTube channel that has posted transphobic content and is just generally shitty (a lot of "woke agenda" bullshit, really, but the transphobic shit is the worst from what I could glean).

There's enough going on with him, between all of the above, and the "I heart cops and the military" takes for me to say fuck that guy. This just bolsters that. What a creep.

 

I've spent years telling myself this thread would get better, but I think it's finally time I stop checking it for good. I hope you all figure out how to talk about accountability like adults, good luck

 

people like Finn have dumbed down music criticism to nothingness, he talks about nothing and literally crowd sources his video ideas by asking his followers what to talk about anytime he comes up with a topic and you’ll see he literally just uses talking points from his mentions. I’ve also heard rumbles that he pulls the strings on his wife’s YouTube channel but I also don’t doubt she sincerely holds those beliefs and he at the very least tacitly supports them with just enough plausible deniability to act like he’s totally not right wing at all.

 

Since he has been brought up: A venue here in Birmingham, UK advertised a Jonny Craig show recently and after my initial "Oh, he's still a thing?" reaction, I was super surprised to see comments where people were seemingly excited.

Not many of them, tbf, and it's not a massive venue anyway, but these people were tagging each other and saying how happy they were to see him. It just reminded me that there's a huge section of the "alt scene" that just couldn't give the slightest fuck how evil someone is, and it's incredibly depressing.
