Things I think about often when it comes to the whole "cancel culture" thing and how it affects primarily white, male artists: how they're able to tour without any consequences, and how their bad actions/accusations/criminal records/etc. get swept under the rug. In the case of RR, younger fans are becoming exposed to his band's music for the first time and probably have no idea about the real history of what he's done (as well as members of other bands in the scene) and quite frankly, don't care, because they get to see a favorite act go on tour.

Instead of bickering about things in this thread, why don't y'all chew on that thought above? It's not just one artist, and there's essentially some sort of cookie cutter that you could use to say X member in X group needs to be held accountable for their actions.

And yes, RR is very problematic and absolutely DOES deserve to be held accountable for his actions. The same could be said about other prominent artists in the music scene AS A WHOLE who are still actively (trying to) tour, making new records, putting out new music, etc. (Y'know, Morgan Wallen, Ryan Adams, etc.)

people have literally touched on all of those things in this exact thread and you repeatedly chimed in with well actually he didn’t *technically* murder anyone himself!!

careful now, don't put cancel culture in quotes, you'll get called old!

I chimed in when the one guy said he *literally* murdered someone, and then this little crowd got all riled up and said "hey now who cares if we are being disingenuous! he's a bad guy! let us make stuff up"

Morgan Wallen being bigger than he ever was is why I put cancel culture in quotes -- because cancel culture is simply an idea. it does not actually exist lol

Let's just focus on how Ronnie is spreading hate and we are not cool with that and how we can tell people who are unaware that Ronnie spreads hate and get after the bands that supposedly are anti-hate (Spiritbox, underoath) that people are disappointed at their hypocrisy.

What's important is that Ronnie is anti-trans. And I and hopefully other people on here are anti-transphobe.

Funny you think people in this thread don’t take the subject matter seriously. You’re basically trying to call the thread triggered without saying it, and every time you use quotes it’s extremely telling of your perception and age, which is why I brought it up. You called me buddy, you’re condescending and pretending to know it all when you’re completely off tact. The og poster made the edit after only 2-3 of your dumb remarks, something you keep telling people to go look at but havent yourself. Most people on here probably wouldn’t be as aggressive as I am, but calling me buddy? Again, get bent weirdo.

I agree with the overall sentiment and can relate to it in that if you use hyperbolic language against someone, they get defensive and shut down and aren't going to change. EX - someone says something inappropriate/vulgar, and you call them a sexual predator, they're going to just defend against the label, vs if you approached it with a 'hey, what you said is f'ed up and here's why' there's an opportunity for learning/discourse and it keeps the other person open. So yes, details can matter in some cases, but not really here man.

The point of this thread is to call out people and bands and not split hairs. UO / Spiritbox are touring with an artist who has done enough terrible things, that if they really cared about some of the causes they championed, they wouldn't tour with them.

I guess if you want to just correct the facts just because, then go ahead, but if you think correcting the facts, cleans the slate, and we then won't want to hold the other bands accountable for accepting the tour, then yeah, you're wrong.

Why are people fighting against the idea that accuracy is good when it comes to accountability? That is the basis of this persons argument, regardless of how they are presenting it.

so you're triggered by the weird buddy? that's pretty brutal

I wasn't trying to do this. I couldn't care less about these bands, I don't even listen to this music anymore.

Despite what buddy thinks, I'm only 29 and have moved on from "metalcore/post-hardcore" so hold these bands accountable all you want for touring with him, doesn't bother me any lol

I try my very best these days to mostly read, stay up to date and listen in here, but wow does Chorus have some remarkable randoms sometimes doing the absolute most for the worst.

Y'all fuckers are arguing against each other about semantics instead of figuring out how to stop a transphobe.

you've been pretty aggressive with your remarks against/about me, and for someone claiming *I* am off-base, you could not be any more hilariously off-base yourself with who I am

and that's just an extra layer of fun in here for me lol

Because at the end of the day, in a situation where there's a laundry list of offenses, and reasons to be annoyed and disappointed at the tour partnership, the details don't matter in the accountability part. Correct the detail, and if it's the same thing in the end (wanting to hold the band accountable for accepting the tour), what's the point in the wasted energy and derailment?

I mean, a 29 year old who says whack and folks and cares about Ronnie Radke’s perception between being the murderer and a party to with zero remorse, I think you’re even weirder now. Should’ve said you were 100.

anyway, the bigger conversation that needs to be had here is, and will always continue to be, how do we hold artists accountable for things they've done or said over the years? this is a pressing issue that's not new, and in a world where people are strongly in support of human rights, it's a bad look to speak negatively on marginalized groups and minorities. it's also a bad look to be violent if it's not warranted and be an abuser (re: physical/emotional/sexual abuse).

let's not forget music is a safe space for a lot of folks (and that is why there should be constructive conversations on people who need to be held accountable!)

And yeah, we do care. Underoath was an all time favorite of mine and this leaves a very bad taste. I don’t want to see that they’re associated with FIR in any capacity.
