That's fair but what would be a better indicator of popularity?

Hence a few years ago when the Trapt guy went on his rant about how big and relevant they were because Pandora (lol) had a ton of Head Strong listens

 

I’ve genuinely never met someone who uses pandora lol

 

Fuck that. Park in a Target or something and Uber there.

 

The amount of wonder bread, generic, folk/country/indie-adjacent festivals popping up is wild. These lineups are so boring and made for the 40+ blankets/chair crowd.

 

theres nothing totally wrong with it since it absolutely is a metric that is looked at with tour/festival billing, but the thing people forget is that it is a worldwide platform, so it can only go so far once you start looking at international bands. also "monthly listeners" is anyone who has listened to a band, so that can fluctuate around new releases or large playlist placements. hardly a definitive metric of popularity but an important one.

 

I used it when I was in high school, but I haven’t used it since

I legitimately forgot Pandora existed lol

 

My girlfriend was a die-hard Pandora user. She said she would never change because she spent years honing her algorithm to make it perfect in her eyes and she was just used to it. We went on a roadtrip and used my Spotify in the car, by the time we got home she swore off Pandora and got on my Spotify plan.
