Blood and Guts is 5v5 I think...so if the AEW originals are Britt/Jamie right now, then I'd think Stat, Shida, and probably Willow? Or Riho/Thunder? are the face side. I agree that Thunder is the least likely, and I'd actually argue a Britt/Jamie/Stat/Shida/Riho team is as "early AEW women" as you could get.

On the heel side, WWE signees, you have Toni, Sarya, Ruby, Athena...obviously Sasha would be the big splash to even that all out, though probably Mercedes Martinez is the simpler answer? If Vicki was still around, you could shoehorn Nyla in. Or if you want to return Thunder as a heel...her betraying AEW would fit.

I forget... is Ricky or Jungle Boy supposed to be the 4th pillar? Or can we retroactively make them both pillars and keep Sammy out of it?

 

And it should be telling that I didnt even include the current TBS Champ in that discusssion, but feels like she's too boring to get roped into that feud.

 

The original "4 pillars" are MJF/Sammy/JB/Darby. That's the t-shirt.

Of those, Sammy is clearly no longer a pillar...hard to argue who replaces him, but, I'd point out Hangman is wildly more accomplished than Ricky while also being younger. So, decent argument Sammy's immaturity leads to Hangman being a pillar. You could also go the other way and say like, Hook, is the other pillar if you want to focus on youth.

I always forget she has the OVW/FCW past that probably works. But for sure she's the best heel option

 

After that Ricky presser I think we are getting Ricky/Hobbs for the TV title.

 

You need a good worker to carry the match early & she's probably the best for that.

 

Hangman ain't a pillar. Pillars are "home grown" talent. While Darby, Sammy and MJF all were reasonably well known within their local scenes prior to joining AEW they really didn't have any pull nationally. Only the biggest indie wrestling nerds knew who any of them were unless they regularly wrestled your area. Whereas Page was pretty well known from his associations with the elite and had held ROH gold and wrestled a bunch in Japan

 

Yeah technically Hangman was a ROH/New Japan guy. I remember when Hangman was Roderick Strong's young boy in ROH in 2014.

 

TK saying Honor Club now at 12K subs and that it is higher than it was when ROH was at it's peak at the time of the MSG/New Japan supershow.

 

Damn, only 10 pages of updates for an AEW PPV? They’re used to be 20/25 pages to go through when I wake up the following morning.

 

Also booooo I was hoping The Revival were coming back to the fed. Ah well.

Why would u want any good tag team being in a promotion that continuously disregards tag team?

 

Yeah thats fair. Its funny, a few months back I'd have said Yuta was replacing Sammy as a pillar, but, then they've cooled him off quite a bit. Garcia had that vibe too.

I love that they got really loud when the count hit 2 and saw that none of The Elite could rush in to break it up.

 

That was such a great freaking show last night.
