Alright folks, my fiancée and I are gearing up to go on a cruise in like two weeks and I am looking for sunny, tropical, island and ocean horror movie recs. I plan on doing: Jaws, The Ruins, Zombi 2, Triangle, I Still Know, maybe Club Dread?

Also currently reading The Trench in anticipation of both the cruise and the upcoming movie. I was a sucker for Meg and while I didn't really love the movie, I'm sucked in to this series and will see any summer movie adaptation they want to pump out. Also, Ben Wheatley is slated to direct The Trench.

Shock Waves, The Resort (never seen this, it probably sucks), Old, Messiah of Evil (kinda, it's set in a beach community)

Shock Waves is a great rec as it’s been on my list for awhile but I never knew the setting. I keep seeing The Resort pop up in searches but I also feel like it probably is no good. I was very iffy on Old and Messiah of Evil is fantastic so good call

  21. No one asked, but I recently resorted all of my favorite horror films into a current Top 10 of All-Time (with honorable mentions, of course):
    1. Dawn of the Dead (Romero, 1979)
    2. Jacob’s Ladder (Lyne, 1990)
    3. The Blair Witch Project (Sanchez, 1999)
    4. Pearl (West, 2022)
    5. Halloween (Carpenter, 1978)
    6. Friday the 13th (Cunningham, 1980)
    7. Black Christmas (Clark, 1974)
    8. The Brood (Cronenberg, 1979)
    9. Skinamarink (Ball, 2022)
    10. Censor (Bailey-Bond, 2021)
    Honorable Mentions:
    1. WNUF Halloween Special (LaMartina, 2013)
    2. Phantasm (Coscarelli, 1979)
    3. The Loved Ones (Byrne, 2009)

I fully respect Pearl being that high.

    A great varied top ten.

  23. I would have to think about mine, but I also have a lot of blind spots that I'm working through. I've only seen Jacob's Ladder once. I should revisit that one.

  24. Thank you. It's all very American, so I want to focus on checking out more foreign horror this year.
