I saw that and I wanted to assume the worst, but I guess it is possible he flys between them. But considering he was actually annouced at one point and then taken off it’s not a great look.

Next weekend this thing will be two months away without the “full lineup” being announced. Insane in 2023

i re read this today and if Cobra was announced now, they would undoubtedly be a headliner…and your original comment was correct for what we thought. That tells you all you need to know about this lineup.

Its Not The Start, Its the Finish 2.27.23
    Bamboozle...

Sorry for the silence, but as we have been finishing this year's bill, we have had to honor a few radius clauses before we are able to roll out these next artists. Those radiuses expired this weekend.

Later this week, we will unveil more of our 2023 lineup. There will be no advance notice. We are just gonna drop it, but the media will be given a few hours notice.

This lineup is very stacked in hip hop, pop, rock, alternative, metal, emo and hardcore. It's very deep and well balanced over the three days. Each genre has their own stage and every artist will be playing FULL sets. The site has come together and we are so excited for this roll out.

Some artists in this announcement were leaked with our last announcement, so they will return to the ad mat along with some really amazing acts we were so lucky to add along the way. We purposely rolled out backwards as we believe that's the best way to curate this event moving forward. Everything we have done, has been calculated and on point. (Well, except the first ad mat). Additionally, we have used the same time table for announcements as we have in the past.

This week we will reveal our daily lineups. Single day, VIP, and weekend tickets will be available. There will NOT be a price jump. We will also be rolling out a new website and ticketing options. We are going to launch a fun rewards program for fans to get free tickets, VIP Upgrades, meet & greets, merch and some other really exciting prize packages.

It's not where you start, it's where you finish. I guess some people are too young to remember Warped Tour, Bamboozle, and early Riot Fests. These events were never built on headliners. We catered to a scene that is now long forgotten, but will be reborn. One year at a time!!!

As I have said since day one, Bamboozle Festival is the headliner. We are following our traditions, to the core. From announcements, lineup, festival site, attractions and our fan interactions - we are BAMBOOZLE.

This next announcement will introduce us to a whole new audience and generation. While we will celebrate our roots and traditions, these new fans are the ones who will move the Bamboozle Festival forward, so it's not a one-and-done.

Our success will not be measured this year. We understood coming back, 10 years later, our plan would be different. And when there is difference, there is change and some folks are just afraid of change. And in this climate, cancel culture and "boo birds" sometimes lose track of what their real focus issue is.

We are a damn festival, created for those who love music and are here to continue the mission of artist development and creative content. Bamboozle was known for developing our headliners from within, from small stages to the main stages. Bands used events like Bamboozle, Warped Tour and other festivals within the scene to get exposure, play in front of new fans and most importantly, networking....

I'd say 75% of our fans don't even know what the Bamboozle Festival is today. That will change within the next two weeks, as the buzz grows. These same "boozlebies" (newbies) will most likely run the haters right off the site and our socials. If the haters or doubters think I care, sorry you picked the wrong CEO. I stand with my artists and I love the Bamboozle Festival. Love is stronger then hate.

We didn't come back to big, overpriced talent...We came back to rebuild a scene and culture, where music fans can come to check out some of their favorite acts, but also be exposed to new music and talent.

We love all our fans, even the ones who throw hate and disappointment. We are about inclusion but understand that our lineup may not be for everyone. While we are sad some of you won't be joining us in Atlantic City, we hope you visit other amazing festivals and great events. Hopefully, our paths will cross again and we can continue to support great talent and music together.

I thank each and every one of you for the support and patience. I promise you - This is going to be a party, celebration, and resurrection of the legendary Bamboozle Festival.

Our lineup is stacked. It may not be top heavy, but it is well balanced with something for every type of music fan. Our closers are all playing sold out arena tours....

We are about to have some fun.....let the games begin!

    Much love.

    John D.

But they did have headliners….like a bunch of them every year.

And they are charging the same or more than all those other festivals, without the big names

    HA.

I find it very hard to believe that they weren't able to announce their main acts until 2 months before the festival due to "radius clauses." They 100% have been scrambling the last couple of months trying to save this trainwreck.

It also sounds like this "announcement" coming this week is just gonna be the re-adding of Trippie, A Boogie, Ice Spice and Joeybadass. Makes me think that they intentionally included their names originally even though they werent finalized, in an attempt to beef up their bare boned lineup.

The amount of gaslighting this guy does is absolutely bonkers.
It would be absolutely fine for him to come out and say hey look we used to be backed by Live Nation and other sponsors, but now we're a small indie fest and therefore our budgets are much smaller during this revival.

Instead, he keeps telling this weird narrative like "We are an amazing festival and if you cant see that, it's because you're dumb! You never wanted headliners! You go to festivals to discover artists you've never heard of! Dumby!"

"This festival never relied on headliners"

2005 - MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, THE STARTING LINE, THRICE
2006 - FALL OUT BOY, TAKING BACK SUNDAY
2007 - LINKIN PARK, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE
2008 - SNOOP DOGG, PANIC AT THE DISCO
2009 - FALL OUT BOY, NO DOUBT
    2010 - PARAMORE, WEEZER
2011 - TAKING BACK SUNDAY, LIL WAYNE/MOTLEY CRUE
2012 - FOO FIGHTERS, BON JOVI, SKRILLEX

But, yeah, you definitely never relied on arena-filling acts...

This guy is older than me…I’m 40….and he writes like this. He wants a bunch of teenagers to hang around his festival….in Atlantic City…where they can’t gamble or drink. This whole thing is scuzzy and makes me cringe. There is no way this ass clown was actually responsible for booking those artists in 2012. Clearly anyone associated with him that had business skills left and went elsewhere.

I just realized at the end he says "our closers are all playing sold out arena tours."
Can someone point out one artist on this lineup that is selling out arenas?

Do any of the acts on the bill even draw well among younger people? It seems like a lot of the younger acts do well on socials but haven't been able to translate that into effective touring.

Are any of the TBA acts that we know of arena acts?

I think there’s actually a segment of young people who would come out for Ice Spice, Boogie with the Hoodie, and Trippie Redd assuming they’re still playing.

I think there’s another segment of young people who would come out for Bad Omens.

There’s probably another for Sueco, Blackbear and Kayzo.

then there’s the hardcore kids who would probably see Scowl, End It, Gridiron, etc.

The problem is I don’t think there’s much overlap between any of those fan groups and I don’t think a single one is paying $300+ for this.

this is what's so frustrating about the whole rollout. you know they fully intended on having huge headliners that likely fell through. there's no other way to justify these ticket prices. it's going to end up being a fest full of an undercard that doesn't really go together. it's such a bummer I was really rooting for this fest to have a comeback... but you can legit just go to Adjacent Fest and get what you were hoping for in a Bamboozle comeback.

I'm reading through all the IG comments to John D's most recent post and his responses. His responses make no sense. First he's proudly saying that Bamboozle doesnt need big name headliners, and then in other responses he's saying that each night will have 3 arena level artists closing out each stage, repeating that he has 9 headliners. He then said at one point there are still 40 artists that still havent been announced. LMAO WHAT?

The festival is in 8 weeks, and apparently almost 50% of the lineup hasnt been announced yet? And 9 of those artists are arena selling headliners? Unless he actually thinks Papa Roach and Steve Aoki fill arenas....

I'm guessing they slot in the blanked out names from last time around, maybe add another mid-tier Warped Tour pop-punk/emo band and a bunch of bottom of the poster acts.

...The hail mary here is pretty clearly the daily line-ups and single day tickets. But given what the weekend passes are, I don't see them hitting the right price point without severely pissing off people who already bought weekend passes.

It might work with the right additions and balance of artists on each day. But that's a pretty tall order based on what they have at the moment.
