Foo Fighters/Weezer was an awesome tour in 05. Hot Hot Heat opened my date.

Weezer, local natives, and ts are playing a fest in Indy together. The lineup very well may be on here:

Some interesting stuff in the Lefsetz Letter that I feel like I should continue to remind everyone:

    Fair Ticketing Act

    "
So the artist sets the price. Sometimes it’s too low, sometimes even too high. Sometimes it’s adjusted on the fly. But one thing you’ve got to know is THE ARTIST SETS THE PRICE!

Some artists want a low price. But that bumps up against the immutable law of supply and demand. You might want to sell at a low price, but there are people like scalpers who are in the business of arbitrage, they want to get that lift. Even on a paperless show they can buy four tickets, walk three people in and still make a handsome profit. Which is why more and more artists are charging what the tickets are really worth. Aged acts have little problem with this. Youngsters… But maybe this is the way it should be, so the acts get the revenue, not the scalpers. Cars are not discounted below value, almost no physical goods are. Why should concert tickets be an exception? Oh, one caveat, no matter what is done you still might not get a ticket, but it’s not because of Ticketmaster, but because DEMAND IS TOO HIGH!

As for separate fees… Ticketmaster has gone on record again and again that they’re willing to bake all the fees in, it’s the acts that don’t want this. The acts want to appear that they’re on the side of the fans, with a low face value, and it’s predators gouging you on the fees. When the truth is the fees are part of the actual ticket price, they are not extras, take away the fees and there is no concert. The fees pay the promoter, pay the building, and yes, a chunk goes to Ticketmaster, which does provide a service. It’d be like bringing your car in for service and only be willing to pay for parts, refusing to pay for labor. Without the labor, the parts are not installed, the problem is not fixed!"

I’m aware. Doubt the 3 of them are on a package together.

Local Natives seems like an odd fit for a package tour like this

truths that everyone will ignore like always

speaking of lefsetz, he had fred rosen on his podcast recently, the CEO of ticketmaster from 82-98, ie the guy who saved them from bankruptcy and is basically responsible the live ticketing infrastructure that we all know and love today. anyone who is serious about understanding how ticketmaster actually works, how they got to where they are now, and is too lazy to read the book "ticket masters" should listen to this episode. you don't have to like them, but if you make a hobby of excessively bitching about ticketmaster on the internet, you should probably be informed at the very least.

I read that book, it's good but definitely an in-depth read. I don't understand why people refuse to accept this that a lot of pricing, dynamic pricing, scalping, etc is due to the acts themselves. It's like no one wants to admit their beloved Blink-182 is a global business that loves to get paid.

oh the weezer tour name is already on reddit

    "indie rock road trip"

my knowledge of the tour is limited, but from what i know, none of those bands are involved. its a 3 month tour with varied lineups though so i could be wrong.

  14. The Weezer tour should be announced really soon. I’m told the only holdup is that that they had been planning to bring a hologram of Buddy Holly out on stage to play with them during “Buddy Holly” but Holly’s family has sued to try to block them from doing that

This is either very true or very false. Either way, it's very Weezer.

Given that the one venue posted February 27, it's safe to assume the Weezer announcement is coming Monday.

You have to admire their hustle. I went to the tour they had with DRUGS and after DRUGS were done half the people left.

I mean those two albums in the mid 2000’s were like scene iconic, I don’t think too many people care that it’s only two guys.

Same day as Sad Summer here, seems super dumb conflict.
