I remember there was a stint in the 2009 reunion years where Travis and Tom were all about each other. I remember a short interview where Tom spoke about Travis' Yelawolf EP, and Travis shared AVA's LOVE album link on his Twitter or something.

 

Yeah and Travis and Tom were the first ones to be talking about talking to each other all the time after the breakup hell they even did another boxcar song a few years ago we’ll probably never hear ;_;

 

I take that "Boxcar" song with a grain of salt. Probably Tom playing guitar over the phone to Travis for 20 seconds saying "Hey this could be a cool Boxcar song!".

I'd say pretty confidently that there's not a studio recorded Boxcar Racer they did during that time.

 

Yeah. As much as I'd love to hear a new Boxcar song, I'd be afraid that time has ruined that perfect little gem of a band/sound. No matter how hard I would try, my ear would immediately critique and compare it to the original release and I know it just wouldn't live up to it.

I'd 100% still listen though. I have a dream of blink one day creating a post-hardcore EP

 

they talked about it a bunch. That’s not all of it either, I remember another interview he did in the car over zoom or something where he said Travis wanted to release it with touring the record but they just don’t know when or how they can make time for something that’s just for nostalgia when they got all this other stuff going on. And another with Stryker when Tom said it exists in the cloud right now, would make sense to release it for the 20th anniversary and that came and went lol. So idk yeah they likely didn’t do it together in studio, but I imagine Tom had recorded stuff in his studio and bounced it over to Travis and got him to record on it. Sounds like more than an idea the way they kept talking about it and just trying to figure out how and when to release it, like it’s just sitting on the shelf waiting for the right opportunity, but they had other shit going on where it’s not a priority.

i'm surprised you said that because for years i've been saying that untitled is pretty much / could be a post-hardcore record if you take away the vocals / a few songs. you can't change my mind.

 

how's Edging doing on radio this week?

 

Not like they’d ever do a surprise release, but I don’t want to believe this.

 

I listen to the radio a decent bit at work to try to win concert tickets, and I hear it on a couple different stations a few times a day. Toronto stations have been playing it like crazy since it came out

 

It's so weird to think how impatient and excited we all are, when just 6 months ago, Tom being back in the band, let alone having a near-finished album and mammoth tour wasn't on any of our radars.

 

I’ve seen this argument on Reddit before and it definitely leans that way. I hear it in Obvious and Stockholm. I’d love to get a full album of that mixed with No Heart. Angsty blink makes me a happy Champ

 

Pretty much. When blink records an album or song quickly we complain because they’re not taking their time and rushing things along even though some of their best songs/fan favorites were written in 15 minutes. When they take their time to make an album we complain because it’s taking too long even though perhaps their ‘best’ album took 10 months to write and record.

Maybe we should all just relax and enjoy the hype of the tour/album because who knows if they will ever make another album or tour again.

 

I mean, like a week after edging was out Tom was touting how this is the best blink album to date and such lol so I think people assumed we’d have a single by now and shit, the album by the time of the tour the way he was talking like it was close to done

 

I’m getting deja vu from this album roll out.

 

i had no idea anyone else thought the same, i think those songs are heavy in a non-traditional way.

 

some of us have been trying to temper expectations of how much was completed and when it would probably be ready

 

Random thought: I’m going to the St. Paul date in May, the opening night of the US tour, and it’s May 4th. It’s unlikely, but “A New Hope” would be a great addition to the set that evening.
