I don’t mind that Parks was aspirational. I liked the show. But 30 Rock understood reality better. It took place at a media conglomerate and informs every insane real life decision corporations make, and though she’s the protagonist, the show actively interrogated how Liz Lemon’s passive white liberal politics are entirely unequipped for ruthless corporate/conservative politics

I haven’t done a full watch since it first aired, but it felt like Jim and Pam getting together and then the writers going “So now what?”

Winston got dumber, Schmidt got more unlikable, they were cycling Megan Fox (who was good) and Coach in and out. It felt like flailing, but maybe it’s better on a re-watch. Much like “The Office,” it was a classic in its prime and went on for a couple seasons too many.

James Spader was in the later seasons so they were in fact necessary.

Haha fair enough! I disagree personally, but we're all entitled to our own opinions. IMO -

Winston getting dumber is hilarious and was a massive improvement.

Other than cheating on Cece in the earlier season, Schmidt's character is fully redeemed and one of the most likeable characters in the end

    Megan Fox sucked

Coach I could take or leave. He didn't hurt the show whether he was there or not

Yeah I disagree with most of that especially Megan Fox being good.

Megan Fox was great and maybe better than Jess

That may be true, but I really don't care if a sitcom understands reality better.

    That's not why I'm watching a sitcom.

I don’t care about the politics of any of these shows. What I care about is which is funnier, and it is easily 30 Rock.

30 Rock is the Seinfeld, Parks & Rec is the Friends. I liked all four shows but two were much better at exploring more nuanced storylines and two were more focused on relationships between likable characters

Friends is fine. It’s a funny show. The overblown backlash against it is disingenuous at best

I agree, but it was still a cruel remark because of the sentiment behind it

I love Friends, but I mean, I was watching that show when I was a very little kid with my parents so there is nostalgia tied to it. I still think it's hilarious as an adult, though.

Brooklyn 99 was on Comedy Central the other day and from what I saw…woof. Seemed like a stinker

Never finished 30 Rock. It would come in waves where I would watch it constantly for a season or two and then complete the it forget it existed and then a year later start up again. My biggest battle with 30 Rock was Tracy Morgan. I had to be in a certain headspace to tolerate him / the character and when I wasn’t able to fully buy in to that it just ruined the viewing experience for me.

I watched some newer B99 episodes on a flight and they were whatever, but the earlier seasons were very funny. I think it suffered from Seinfeld syndrome where the main character (Andy Samberg) was the most annoying part of the show.
