100%. I hope M Night keeps making “low budget” movies like this every year or two.

This is Shyamalan's best era. The hype and pressure post-Sixth Sense was going to always be unsustainable. When audiences started to reject him he tried to go big and those films (Last Airbender and After Earth) are his worst films by far. The Visit found the perfect middle ground for him. Other than Glass, it has been a really good run.

  3. Liked this a lot more than Old but agree that the ending should've been more ambiguous. Also, some of those news segment scenes were kind of rough. Still, I enjoyed this and thought the acting was solid across the board. Shyamalan still one of the best at creating and building tension.

    RE: creating and building tension

Some of his best work in that realm is going on with his apple TV show Servant. That has been appointment viewing for me since it started.

  5. Gotta say, I loved The Visit, Split and Glass were okay, and Old was dogshit, but I think this is a top three Shyamalan film. Really, really great stuff. Tense and occasionally beautiful. Bautista is a king

  12. I need to rewatch The Village, but as of right now, it's The Sixth Sense and then this and Unbreakable in close proximity.

Adrien Brody's character/performance really bring The Village down in my eyes

I also knew the "twist" years before I saw the movie and didn't bother watching it until a couple of years ago

The Happening is one of the best comedies of the 2000's.

The Happening is one of those so bad it’s entertaining movies for me. I don’t go back and rewatch it but if it’s on I’ll watch for a few minutes and laugh

  23. Everything about The Happening is just so strange. I just watched it and it's impossible to tell what's intentional and what isn't. I think it's mostly a very bad movie with a really good premise, kill scenes, and nods to Romero.

I for one have always bought into it being an intentional b-movie (and remember having a decent amount of fun with it). Wouldn’t mind a rewatch to see what I think now.
