  1. Dimly Lit really just never quite landed for me, but I’m loving the Joe Vann record a whole lot

Oddly enough I didn't care a lot for EFBN when it came out but after loving Dimly Lit and going back to I enjoy it more. But ya know I love Able Bodies like a ton so that change in sounds took me like 10 years to get used to.

I think Dimly Lit is a bit more consistent, but EFBN has higher highs.

Haven’t gotten a chance to check out the solo record, but I’m traveling today, so I might need to download it and spend some time with it.

I’m actually of the school that Dimly Lit is their best. So many interesting soundscapes

Agree that the change in sound threw me for a bit but I warmed up to EFBN, especially after the tapes came out. Dimly Lit is great in a lot of ways, usually end up only listening to half some days. Really enjoying his solo work

Quite enjoying Found in the Smoke. Was a slow burn for me, but that’s pretty much true of all his stuff for me.

I ordered the vinyl, it doesn't ship until July but it'll be a nice surprise when it eventually comes

If anyone hasn’t heard his Dides project either, it slaps in the spring tone

Would love a return to the Everything Feels Better Now sound/quality. That’s their strongest record and Joey lost me with Dimly Lit sadly.

I mean, is Absent Sounds my favorite FIL record? Yes. But I think they gotta go forward from here, not backward.

I think Dimly Lit is as a bit of a step back from EFBN, but I still think it was a really good album. Just a tad too long for me

The album is literally an hour long so absolutely too long in my opinion too hah

I like some tracks off the record but I think he lost some momentum from not continuing down the path laid out in EFBN ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I loved Dimly Lit and would love it on vinyl, one of my favorites. I thought it was a pretty logical follow on from Everything Feels better now so to me, it definitely followed the path the previous album set.

I do miss the sound of a few tracks on Absent sounds (breaking my bones will always be an all timer) but the last 2 as 'whole albums', are definitely more my speed with very few skips.

I haven't gotten into Joe Vann. I think it's a bit too folky but I'll give it another try. I like the layers on from indian lakes, the whole wall of sound. That's missing in the solo stuff, too stripped back but maybe I haven't dug enough yet.

I love everything he does. Feel like I have aged with his style. Earlier years the rock FIL was so great to me and now I can just shuffle his entire catalog and it all hits. In terms of layers,I think Joe Vann is so much better with head phones on. Not nearly as layered as FIL but the synth just goes over so much better listening loud with headphones. It's a really wonderful solo thing and I can see why he wanted it to be separate from FIL.

I’ll say this again. Dimly Lit is so fucking cool, and I get such a fall 2019 vibe from it every time. Oh what a time…

I never got into Dimly Lit, but loved the three previous releases. Will cautiously check this out.

Dimly Lit was a little bloated for me and I would like just a bit more analog drums. His drumming is super tasteful and interesting to me.
