I don't usually report people, but I'm always willing to make an exception for special (head)cases.

Im pretty sure on new gen systems it’s like freakin $80 now. Not that this contributes anything to the conversation.

Maybe just donate some of that to a charity supporting the trans community instead.

$70 for standard and $80 if you want it a few days early

Played over the weekend on (Series X - downloaded hi-res pack too), played very well. Very little to no load times, a couple weird spots when you open a door to go outside and the door has a loading circle on it - but it isn't any more then 3 seconds or so. It's nice that it does that and not send you to a loading screen.

Does a decent job of adding spells one by one.

Got to the broom section several hours in, the first time you fly around Hogwarts with the music and everything is so nice.

The menu is kind of a mess though. I think Witcher III has the best RPG menu and this could really take some hints from that. The map is nice, but the other menus for collections, quests, etc. is not very intuitive for me. Also it took my way too long to realize you can change the appearance of your gear. For a long while I was running around looking like a lunatic with ridiculous pieces cause they had the best stats.

The menus are confusing, and they don't do a great job at explaining (switching from hogwarts to hogsmeade map via left and right D pad, waiting to change day/night cycle, etc). I've also found navigating different floo flame locations in the castle can be a headache. If it's outside i'll just fly.

  16. It also backs the theory that conservatives and gamers (often conservative) will spend $60+ to support a transphobic ghoul that will never know they exist

harry potter is immensely popular worldwide. gaming twitter doesnt need to create plotlines to explain why this game is selling well lol

Yeah, this game is selling so well for two reasons: a) immensely popular IP and one that a massive number of people have a ton of nostalgia for, and b) it’s by all accounts a very good game

I was posting that sales tweet for the first half, the person who posted and their theory on the 2nd half I didn’t put any attention into because I don’t think it shows that people are “gravitating” towards big brand games. It shows that people were anticipating this specific game.

  21. Gotta wonder if there's another reason people were anticipating this specific game aside from simply liking Harry Potter. I'm not saying it's the only reason it's selling so well, but you're delusional if you don't think that's playing a part here

Obviously there is a (small, but vocal) crowd of people buying the game for political reasonings, but this game was going to sell well no matter what. Especially in the UK. This a game that many fans of harry potter have wanted for a loooooong time.

I’m curious what the total sales for the first week will end up being.

I absolutely think a very, very small percentage of this game’s success is because of that. This is the exact game an incredible number of people that grew up with the franchise have been wanting forever. Couple that with the fact that it’s actually good (apparently, I haven’t played it) and that’s going to sell exceptionally well.

It’s the exact same reason thousands of people flood through the gates of universal theme parks every single day and head straight for hogsmeade/diagon alley. Give people a good product that plays on their nostalgia/fandom, reap the reward.

I think there’s way more people not buying this game for political reasons then the other way around.

The main way this game is being helped by the controversy is increased press coverage which is informing consumers there’s a new AAA well received Harry Potter game.
