Figure 8’s first pre chrous and chorus is my favorite moment in the whole album

Not a fan of this. Thought After Laughter was much better personally.

I liked this on first listen, really feels like a sort of slice of life record to me.

I woke up this morning with Big Man, Little Dignity's chorus playing in my head, which is not one I thought that would happen with when I first listened to it

in Crave’s bridge, there’s a lower (bass?) guitar strumming with a cool tone and it reminds me of a song within the scene but i cant remember what for the life of me. Daughter used that same tone a lot in Not To Disappear but i feel like theres something closer to Paramore’s genre that also used that technique that i cant remember.

Enjoyed this album. Lots of Fleetwood Mac vibes going on here.

This is one of those rare albums for me where the singles truly are the best songs on it

Finally got chance to listen to this. Managed to avoid all the singles prior to release so went in basically blind.

First impressions are it's great, front half is so strong. Gonna need to spend some more time with it though.

Liking this a lot. Paramore has always been influenced by indie rock and it definitely shows the most in this album. Also cool they finally have enough cache to tour with the likes of Bloc Party and Foals. If this was 2009, no way either of those bands would have toured with them.

Both PFA albums are so much better than this. It's kinda shocking

  13. seeing a lot of stuff about the first and second halves being too different…i don’t get this at all

weird to say the halves are different. quality drop, sure, but its definitely cohesive

Big Man Little Dignity is the one that’s already grown on me a lot, thought it was weaker on first listen but now I’m vibing

  16. this i don’t get either… 3 or 4 of the best songs on the record are on the second half

The opposite is true. But the back half has a couple incredible songs.

listened to this 3 times through, the third time being on headphones. Definitely a grower. But the nuance of each song and hearing everything going on much more closely on headphones has made me start to love this.

eh, I like 2 of the 5 songs on the second half (liar and thick skull), while i like nearly all of them on the first. all of the other songs are kinda just there for me right now

  20. You First is to me like...a perfect Paramore song in every way...maybe this is where the disconnect is

Yeah, I’m honestly shocked You First wasn’t a single.

I listened twice through last night and woke up with the chorus to big man little dignity in my head. I’m definitely loving this even though stylistically I prefer After Laughter’s vibe more. This feels like a streamlined, more mature self titled. It would have made sense directly after to me. Very excited to see these songs live this summer!

Finally read that Pitchfork review and it’s a big ol’ oof. It’s so reductive and contradictory and the emphasis on Hayley’s vocals above everything else is puzzling.

It reads like someone with a pre-conceived notion of the band gave the album a couple cursory listens, saw that one quote from Hayley about Bloc Party and crafted the entire narrative around that.

Listened a few more times today. I think the only song that isn’t doing much for me right now is Crave.
Running Out of Time and Liar REALLY grew on me since my first listen.
