  3. I’m excited to hit play on This Is Why / I think I only listened to the title track less than 10 times and the other two singles once each so I have fresh ears for this and I’m thrilled

Well that was fucking awesome. What a band this has become. There are obviously a million things to say about Taylor’s parts here but you really have to hand it to Zac for coming through on this too. His work on After Laughter was great, but he’s really proving his versatility here, just a crazy dynamic drummer

  5. Also glad I completely checked out of the singles after the title track, those all had an energy not really replicated elsewhere on the record and I probably would’ve gone into this expecting something different

Ok I admit this album is a lot better with headphones on. Digging Figure 8 a lot

This album fucking rules, really glad I only really knew the first track. I’m gonna need these resell prices to drop asap because I have to see this live!

Damn, what a record. They really pulled that off. I've played it twice and then random songs since. Floored by the arrangements and production choices on this. I 100% relate to "Running Out Of Time". Some changes in the scenarios, but I am that person. That one is going to end being really special to me.

Other favorites so far are: "You First" and "Thick Skull". Such a purifying ending. This band is going to continue getting better over the years. They are locked in. Sure hope it's not another 5.5 years. The music world deserves more of them.

  11. First listen in the bag. It's clearly a really good record but I don't think it plays to Paramore's strengths in many cases. I also don't think they pulled off C'est Comme Ça ultimately, which is a bummer because this isn't a long record and any misstep is more noticeable. I don't agree with the Pitchfork review score but I do agree with a lot of the points.

Feeling positive on this but not over the moon. I do think that (barring the chorus of The News) they made some fantastic production choices. Also, the instrumentation is incredible across the board.

First listen: Never thought I'd hear a Paramore record that's almost too artsy for me.

That said, I can already tell it's gonna give a lot with relistens. It's the least immediate record I've ever heard from them, but it's pretty awesome hearing a band at their cultural apex taking such a left turn.

  13. Yeah in retrospect I wish I would've done this because my first thoughts after my initial listen was over was "oh this is quieter than I expected".

Only listened once so far, I’m waiting to hit replay because I really want to sit with it and the lyrics, but it’s so good. Feels fresh while having shades of the rest of their discography + PFA.

Also love but didn’t expect to hear that some stuff on the second half remind me of eisley (which is funny because Max Bemis is working on an album of Emo/pop-punk covers and wants Sherri to sing a paramore song).

  15. I know this album is much more than that but this has totally reinvigorated my love for any kind of rock that includes dance beats, however you call this (dance-punk? post-punk revival? indie?). For the past day, I've been hunting down so many songs, mainly from the 00s, I used to listen to, trying to complete a playlist I had started earlier this era. I'm having a blast in the process so... thanks Paramore!!

“Thick Skull,” is the only song I’m really digging at the moment, but I’ll be revisiting to see if it comes around.

it's a beautifully put together album

the back half is a little slow for my tastes though, i wanted to shake my ass some more

On to my second listen now. First half is easily the stronger half. This Is Why through Cest Comme Ca is so good. Thick Skull is a fantastic ending though.

I saw a few people say this wasn’t for them and I’m very confused. The majority of the lyrics are super relatable to me and I feel like should be for most people. I find it odd someone wouldn’t be pulled in by that. But then again, people were saying lyrics are not important to them. I find that bizarre, but that’s a whole other discussion.

Also, comparing this to PFA seems odd to me. I think Liar is the only song that I could see on that album. But Liar still feels like Paramore, I just think it could go with either band.

    Favorites so far:
    -This Is Why
    -The News
    -Running Out of Time
    -Cest Comme Ca
    -You First
    -Crave
    -Thick Skull

This is very Bloc Party. I’m excited to spend more time with it. Already like it more than AL.
