Damn, I went into the embrace presale and the cheapest I saw was $69 or so

What I wouldn’t give for any show to have that low of fees around here lol

Tempting for sure. One of my good friends has a buddy who manages the venue here in Toronto so he’s going to see if he can pull any strings for me, but if not, I might just make the trip

Fob is def using dynamic pricing. Field tickets started at 150 they are now at 209

hoping that fob tickets will take some of the heat off blink tickets so if pit tickets in chicago finally inch under $300 we can pull the trigger

I think it's going to be really apparent by the end of this year how these absurd ticket prices will negatively effect secondary markets (for sellers, not buyers).
10 years ago when there'd be an arena tour, there would be $30-$50 upper deck seats available. So when scalpers scooped them up, they'd throw them on Stubhub with a 30% mark up. Shitty, yes, but still keeping those tickets under $100 seemed doable for the buyers who missed out on the regular on sale.

Now with ticket prices being absurd, it seems like scalpers are still trying to scoop up tickets, with the assumption that they can still get away with upcharging 30% per ticket. Thing is, if a shitty seat was already $200 face value, you're gonna have a tough time finding someone willing to spend $260 to sit a mile away. So in a sense dynamic pricing is getting the job done.

I just have a feeling this summer it's going to be pretty easy to buy a reasonably priced ticket to all these major stadium/arena shows on Stubhub the week of. For all the commotion that the Taylor Swift tour stirred up, I'm still confident that the week of there will be plenty of face value tickets on secondary markets.

Heard multiple out of town people say the same thing. I've been spoiled having it 15 mins from all of my apartments the past decade. Saw some really cool shows there and never a bad experience.

That’s one thing people don’t notice enough. This “war” against scalpers has honestly probably driven ticket prices up 400%-500%

I wonder what arena shows outside the US cost?

also why not go back to when you went in person to get tickets?

It really depends on which act that is and where in the world the shows is but you should assume that the shows outside are much more expensive.

For example, my pit ticket for Blink182 in Mexico City was $2280 pesos, which is around $110usd
The 1975 in the same arena was $1680 pesos, around $80usd, Tame Impala $65usd and The Killers $120. So you can get an idea

The FOB presale for Forest Hills in Queens was super confusing. The tiny GA section up front, at least from what I've gathered, is ONLY available to the highest VIP tier ($550). What will be interesting is if they can't sell all of those packages, if they open it up to the lower VIP tiers of GA. As you all have pointed out, letting the secondary sites run as a free-for-all has increased prices to the perceived market rate so it's become really hard to predict how much tickets will be and also causes a ton of panic buying.

I mean to each their fucking own but I don't even remotely consider these arena shows. Too expensive and even if I decide to pony up, everyone in the pit is most likely not gonna be the kind of crowd that's gonna go nuts. I envision lots of cell phones.

Even if its a band I love, not worth it. Especially since its not like any of these shows are like some band that hasnt played live in decades or something. I've seen 90% of my favorite bands at least twice, so why would I spend a fortune on something that will most likely not be a good time (vs expense)

This is definitely old man screaming at cloud but more of a these high prices don't really phase me. Anything over $100 rules me out instantly unless it's a festival

I had a couple shots at FOB this morning. I struck out during the mailing list and figured I'd try my luck in the Red Sox STH/Invited guest sale later on since I was given access. There were definitely better seats available, but they upped every ticket by $30-$55.

Most expensive ticket in the mailing list sale was $149.50 plus fees. Those seats jumped to $189.50/$204.50 depending on location in the latter sale.

I wound up getting some premium Right Field Box seats just off the field for $139 each, just outside of Pesky's Pole. I've sat there before for a show, a little higher up, and they're very good. I'd still prefer to get down on the field, though. I'm gonna try my luck again tomorrow, though.

I’d just like to point out the bullshit that is dynamic pricing. Thrice at a 1000 people venue has all remaining tickets as platinum.

  21. Platinum is different than dynamic pricing I think but yes they’re both bullshit

yes different but in the same principle that if they are selling fast and they have say 50-75 tickets left they make them $112 up from $30.

    wait Thrice tickets are $100?

Thrice at the TLA, it’s a 1k venue, when the presale started tickets were $30 and they went pretty quick. The last of the GA tickets turned platinum and they sold them for $112.
