Do we know yet how to handle buying arena tickets that are jacked up with dynamic pricing? Will they come down in price closer to the show when production holds are released? Or are we at a point where it is what it is

When I refresh it it doesn't show anymore presale tickets, just some $74 ones with club access or whatever

Edit: now when I go it doesn't even go to the presale anymore

Agree. I looked at FOB tickets for Wrigley this morning and it just wasn't worth it. I can honestly think of one band (Radiohead) that I would spring for tickets for in a huge venue but it sounds like I might not have to do that for a while.

I bought 4 tickets FOB/BMTH non premium tickets this morning. My total was $630… Love not being able to get pit tickets even though I was on it the moment it started. The premium prices are absurd

from what I have experienced you only two hopes are the obvious hope it doesn’t sell out and the prices return to “normal”. Or legit hope you are one of the first people in on a presale before the algorithm kicks in and spikes the prices.

Platinum tickets are one of the biggest scams in the concert industry......however I actually do believe that jacking up prices at the point of purchase is probably the best method to combat scalping right now as I believe the higher price may result in less people buying at the point of purchase forcing scalpers to take a loss on many tickets...at least that has been my experience and of course it does not apply to all shows

The only positive takeaway I'm getting from these crazy dynamic prices is that I'm becoming more selective with my shows. I try to limit my arena/stadium shows to just 2-4 a year, with the rest being normally priced club shows.
I've already got Blink, Postal Service and Metallica on the books for this year. And the cost of those 3 alone probably exceeded all my concert spending done in 2021.

    Damn, that’s wild for y’all.

I managed to get three FOB tickets at Wrigley in the exact section I wanted in a great row for less than $300. I wish my luck onto everyone trying to snag some.

I'm still convinced the biggest issue is the re-sale market artificially enhancing demand, which inflates prices, which builds hype to further increase the prices.

If you slap a percentage cap on re-sale, I bet you'd see a decrease in tickets on the secondary markets... And a decrease in overall prices.

The "but capitalism" argument really doesn't play well with me here. It's full-blown bullshit that there's an entire industry allowed to exist that competes with consumers - using professional tools, applications, etc. - to get their hands on inventory that is then re-sold to those same consumers.

I’m just going to keep my arena/stadium acts to the one of two festivals I’ll attend each year.

The FOB and Beyoncé prices really got me depressed today.

All really good points....i am at the point now where I do not purchase tickets to a show until the week of because of the "artificial demand"

Thrice tickets are $70 in Toronto. I’m probably gonna have to pass on that one

I was considering grabbing a FOB ticket but that Re:SET concert series (and eventually some of Pitchfork/Lolla/Riot) interests me more so I will pass on FOB, but godspeed to anyone getting a ticket.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, everything is terrible.

I bought mine from soundrink and they were about just under $57 after conversion

    Things have changed.

Yikesssss. My show uses Etix (lol) and the fees are only $2.75 on a $30 ticket.

Just a heads up, Thrice tickets in Buffalo are $36 after fees and the venue is MUCH better if you want to drive 80mins south.

Got “lucky” on my FOB tickets. 3 seats basically in the far back corner of the amphitheater at $80 per ticket.

if I didn’t already know I’m leaving my other two people and sneaking into the pit, I probably wouldn’t have bothered. Hate that other people are paying 2 or 3 times that price and not getting into the pit

This is why I think fees should just be in the ticket cost. If you saw that your ticket was $43 to start with, eh whatever not too bad. But seeing $30 + half the ticket cost in fees, it’s a little upsetting.

Have driven up to Buffalo from south central PA multiple times for that venue specirical. Absolutely my favorite venue I've ever been to.
