Let me just say, it’s absolutely delightful to have the announcement discussion limited to this thread (as opposed to the Marvel Studios announcements that lead to a dozen new threads at once for projects with zero creative talent attached).

Watch, some jackass is gonna commit the ban-worthy offense of making those threads now.

I'm halfway tempted now to make those threads, for good, wholesome reasons, and certainly not for pettiness, spite, and/or shits-and-giggles.

Is fan-casting allowed in here or is that about as bad as ranking things in the blink-182 thread?

I don’t think fan casting has ever gotten too obnoxious.

The only three I've given any thought are Wolfgang Novogratz as Clark Kent/Superman, Jamie Dornan as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and Glen Powell as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern.

I’m realizing that the new Superman movie actor will very likely be younger than me, and I don’t know how to feel about that.

If they go the somewhat older/established batman route with Brave & the Bold I'd love to see Jensen Ackles. He'd fit with their hybrid live action to animated strategy since he has already voiced bats in Long Halloween and has some live action hero experience with The Boys.

Honestly wouldn't complain with them hiring a lot of lesser known actors for just about any role though.

Jamie Dornan as Batman has been a fan cast for a while, after Pattinson of course.

    oh no

I certainly wouldn’t mind some relative unknowns as they’d probably be willing to stick around longer since it’d be a career building/defining role. I’m admittedly still a little fuzzy though about who’s staying and who’s going and what plot-lines will be leftover remnants or if they’ll be done away with entirely. Maybe it’ll all be clearer after the Flash movie.

Sophia Ali could be a fun Catwoman. Also saw someone a few months ago mention Annie Murphy getting a shot as Harley Quinn and can’t stop thinking about it

Glad “trunks” is winning, as it should. Hopefully we can trust Gunn to make the right call.

To quote a terrible person playing Lex in another terrible person’s film, “Wrong!”

I’m very interested in what a modern movie budget version of a proper (not over-designed!) classic Superman costume looks like. That iconography in the hands of the right filmmaker could look so good, it’ll make me believe a man can fly.

Looking around at various comic book and live action variations of the costume, and yeah… The trunks nearly universally look better than traditional-leaning designs without. For live action, you gotta make sure you get the materials and color palette right to sell it, but if you do, it just looks right.

Outside of the trunks, my biggest wish is for a great version of Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen. Give me a Jimmy who could nail the shenanigans of his Silver Age comics, the more recent Fraction/Lieber series, and his spotlight in All-Star Superman. Feel like that’s a character who could easily carry Gunn’s traditional sensibilities in a way that Supes himself can’t. And, he’d be fantastic spinoff material.
