This is what I am most curious about too. There’s definitely some stuff in the trailer that’s not in the book.

Old is really good. M. Night has been on a hot streak since betting on himself and leaving giant studio blockbusters like After Earth and The Lasr Airbender behind

  4. Old was a mixed bag. Some cool ideas and memorable moments, but it just didn't come together for me. There were some pretty rough performances too.

    Excited for this one, though.

Yeah I generally enjoyed it. Felt like it on petered out but I don't really see another way this could have ended.

Rupert Grint saying he's from "Medfuuhd' is hilarious because I live in Medford and everytime I tell someone that no matter the personality, people respond with it in an exaggerated accent.

I liked the flash forward with all electric vehicles
The one thing it needed was another flashbacl alluding to Jonathan Groff being the more religious. There was a comment about him and the Jesus playing soccer that I thought was showing that, but idk, felt like it was missing context

Batista rocked but there was a lot of cheesy dialogue (particularly Ben Aldridge)

This is what I’m talking about. Having read the book I know he’s not gonna be at or in the titular cabin. I’m guessing he dies in one of the many apocalyptic events or is a news reporter or anchor.

Was a solid watch. Definitely prefer the way things went in the book for the most part though. Batista really nailed the role of Leonard.

Book spoilers ahead if there's anyone that hasn't read it and cares to know the differences

A little fuzzy on some small details but after Andrew gets the gun from his car, he comes back into the cabin and shoots Adriane, killing her. Andrew and Leonard wrestle around for the gun, it goes off and Wen is accidentally shot and killed. Leonard is then tied up and tells them that Wen's death won't count as a sacrifice because it was an accident pretty much. Leonard then has Sabrina kill him and she ends up taking Eric and Andrew to the group's car. Sabrina digs up a gun they hid near the car and kills herself with it. The book ends as they both walk off ton the car holding Wen's body as the sky darkens. Also, I don't think Adriane ever mentioned having a child in the book.

    That sounds fuckin dark

this was another one where I really enjoyed the journey but not the destination. I think I would have preferred a story where there was no apocalypse, they were just a a crazy cult, they put a flash drive in the tv to play the premade/doctored clips , and it’s really just a cautionary tale against cults and extreme beliefs

Dave was great but overall this movie was a snoozer for me

  19. Nah dude if that happened I think I would've walked out. You do not touch the little Asian girl.

yeah that sounds way worse to me lol, maybe it works in the book but that feels very at odds with Shyamalan's generally very optimistic messaging

Yeah, I was happy with that change. I had a feeling she'd be safe, because at the beginning of the book Leonard makes a promise to her that he isn't going to let anything happen to her. He never made that promise in the film.

I’ve read the book and plan on seeing the movie this weekend. I don’t care if you spoil this for me but does Wen die in the movie?

I went in expecting a Jehovah’s Witness joke and wasn’t disappointed. I did not go in expecting to have my fear of flying heightened. This was okay to pretty good.

Also, thought this would be a good double feature with The Village. Speaking of JWs, it’s so good (on par with The Matrix, Truman Show, Severance, etc) when you watch it from the perspective of waking up from a cult/brainwashing. Lots of themes overlapped between the two for me.
