  3. Rivals dropping big bids all over the place. We’ve been haggling over about 5m for 30 days. It’s great.

£60m no add ons is a serious opening bid. Hopefully we aren’t a million miles away.

There is stuff on Twitter coming out saying he is prepared to submit a transfer request so talks can be opened with both clubs and its like, so what lol - if I was at Brighton I'd put it in the shredder right in front of him. Why should they weaken their squad now when they can keep him for another 6 months, let his value increase a bit and also have time to plan a suitable replacement instead of potentially scrambling for a new CM with 4 days left of the window?

I guess the usual argument against this is the potential unrest it causes on the dressing room. But I don’t know enough about him to know if this would be the case.

Just do what I do on FM. Ignore it until the window closes, wait for a month and eventually he forgets about it and all is well.

  9. Disappointing that we never really developed Gil during his time with Spurs. I think he’s shown the potential of a really good player. Maybe the PL just isn’t a fit for him.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

He’ll tear it up in La Liga, I have no doubt. Just hasn’t worked out here, he’s extremely talented but in the PL he’s easy to get off the ball.

Just had a thought: Bielsa at Ajax. Would love that as a neutral.

I know the irony of a Newcastle fan whose club poached Dean Ashworth and Dan Burn saying this, but it's a shame that Brighton is being picked apart like this. Feels a lot like Southampton from years back. You can have all the succession planning you want, but as you keep replacing coaches, players and front office staff, it inevitably catches up with you.

Unfortunately for Brighton, they will always be hampered by their infrastructure regardless of their succession planning. This becomes so obvious to you if you ever visit Falmer where they are based. Compare that to what the "big" London clubs can offer, the Manchester clubs can offer, the Liverpool clubs (baring in mind Everton's new stadium) can offer. Even Newcastle is a city more "built" for football.

I must say I'm surprised that Newcastle's only activity so far this window has been bringing in a striker who immediately went out on loan and sending Wood to Forest.

Thought the Wednesday defeat would have shown we need a bit of strength in depth.

  15. Sounds like Kane will be rested tomorrow which is fine because it likely means Richarlison will get his first start as ST. I think he is much better in this role than out wide. Danjuma is available for the match and it might be too soon but I wouldn't mind also resting Son and letting Danjuma get the start on the left side. Danjuma/Richy/Kulu could be a fun front 3 tomorrow.

I got fucked over doing that in my current game. Player wanted out, I ignored them obviously. Eventually they did forget about it and said he wanted to stay, but like a week later my whole teams morale cratered because I didn’t sell the lad.

Yeah, I find if they are in your “leaders” or “core” squad dynamics bracket, it is WAY harder to do it.

Generally, I let players go if they want, but only in summer windows or if I already have a replacement. The issue is when he’s essentially irreplaceable, at which point I just fleece clubs for everything I can for him.

Yeah, there were so many promising rumours leading up to the window, but since it opened it's been really quiet. Everyone associated with the club seems calm about it, so I've remained confident, but with time running out it's starting to feel like a real missed opportunity to kick on and try and consolidate position in the league.

Yeah depending on what club I’m with I tend to pre-buy players. I’ll try to have replacements ready to go come summer and then let players go. Mostly fecking shite that they always seem to ask to leave after a horrible low ball bid comes in at the end of January. Like piss off mate you’re valued at 40m I’m not selling you to Inter for 15m.

Doing a lower league South American save made me so annoyed about this. 50,000 for my best player?! Piss off.

I assume one of our existing wingers must be on the way out then. Maybe Ritchie will go back to Bournemouth, or Murphy to Forest. Just seems like an odd one.
