Anyone heard when the Maneskin dates are coming? I’m really enjoying this record, this sleazy glam vibe is it.

I like that this thread has everything. It means that I'll rarely miss a tour announcement and can find new music.

I've said it before though, and I'll make this my final time, but 100 Gecs are absolute 100% not for me and I cannot comprehend how they're listened to unironically and are as big as they are. I'll be skipping over every mention of them and their tours until they release something that's you know, not what they're currently doing. There must be HUGE generational gap on that band I guess. It's like hamster dance and crazy frog vocals, mixed with dial up tones and then mostly nonsensical lyrics and it all combines into one big, noisy mess. Their whole aesthetic also screams meme, and I really can't take it serious as music, except for the fact that they have millions of plays. I could maybe get it if they were big live for their party/social aspect and the fun of going to one of their shows, but the fact that spotify indicates people actually LISTEN to it, and listen to it A LOT, just baffles me. I also found out they have a cult like following on reddit to where the tree on their album is a 'pilgrimage' spot. It's grating, loud, and overlayered and despite multiple listens, and admittedly agreeing that some of their melodies are catchy, they make music that's overall rather unpleasant to listen to.

    /oldmanrant over.

I felt the same way, then I saw them live and was converted. They had the wildest pit I saw at a show last year. Somehow at 37 I wasn’t the oldest person there ha.

I don’t think they’re meant to be taken seriously, they’re in on the joke.

100 Gecs vocalist is trans and me being gay I’m so about it. They are huge in the lgbt community and I can’t wait to see them this spring

I’ve never had the chance to listen to them, but I was always under the impression that they were like a Gen Z Death Grips

I didn't get 100 Gecs until I saw them at So What last summer and thought they were awesome. I'm planning on seeing them when they come to Michigan in April!

I just found that out when I read an interview piece about them and I appreciate representation in music, so if that's why a lot of people have connected with them, then cool. Without any of that knowledge, or even a connection now knowing that, I was just commenting on the music.

I wasn't hating on their fans FYI, it's just not often that I find a popular band and don't see the appeal (I'm normally pretty good, especially as I age, at going 'well it's not for me but I see why some people like it'). I'm reading the replies and taking it all in. It won't convince me to rotate them, but it'll at least give me some understanding of why some people are vibing.

I saw them in 2021 and it was one of the most fun shows I've been to, felt refreshing to see such a diverse crowd when it comes to music genres. Also got a photo pass and took some cool pics.

100 Gecs - and hyperpop - are punk rock. It's abrasive, it's irreverent, it's inclusive, it breaks all the musical rules, and it pisses off boring old white people. What else could you want?

They have some of the catchiest hooks around. The ear worms got me to stick around to appreciate the aspects that didn’t immediately connect. The unreleased stuff they’ve been playing live is insane. Huge fan here.
Also if anyone is looking for an entryway into hyperpop, the newest Brakence record is amazing top to bottom.
