  1. Yeah, labels help with a lot. Money for press releases, music videos, playlist, tv & radio spots, relationships with touring companies, the works. I get so many emails from publicists every day - it’s not something artists starting out can afford; making it in music is definitely a prohibitive cost and involves relationships with people who can boost your career

I'm specifically just interested in the majors vs larger indies aspect. I mean QOTSA for example work with Mark Ronson, do huge tours etc and have been on Matador since 2013.

There was a moment in the 2000s where indie or mid-level acts could do pretty well through touring, blog coverage, word-of-mouth, syncs on TV shows, etc. The flattening of the music press and the streaming recalibration made it a lot harder to get by without major label support.

I listened to From Under The Cork Tree for the first time in years, and it might be my least favorite FOB album bar their first, which I've never heard.

Some of the songs in the middle just either drag or are unimpressive.

I'm just giving hard-hitting facts. I know it hurts to hear, but that's the way it's gotta be.

they were a great harcore punk band before but that album was the turning point of joel and benji selling out

I never dug that one song they covered from SR-71, my favorite singles from them are "Cadillac" and "Seein' Red". And I think they lost something when Justin left and was replaced with Matty.

I just find his whole schtick toe curling. Is smoking cool now? He comes across as extremely try-hard and everything he says in interviews is for tik-tok or exposure on social media.

The funny thing is when I asked this question, I totally thought you were talking about Matt Heafy, vocalist of Trivium. Carry on.

I did a discography run of FOB a couple weeks ago and I had that same opinion of FUTC too.

I stopped caring about them when Infinity initially came out but it's easily my favorite now. I've always hated the first single from Folie but that's a good album too

"I Don't Care" is a bad single but excellent in the flow of the album and I will die on this hill.
