For a month or two I did a kickboxing (shadowboxing? Idk the difference but the gym called it kickboxing) class at the gym at 5:30am once or twice a week and idk who that version of me was because I can't relate. I even tried going back and doing it again randomly a year or so later and it sucked so bad. It wasn't even a workout where I conceded that I felt good after. I was just mad lol. A lot of the local teachers took that class before school.

Every few months I get up early to excercise and convince myself I'm now a morning gym person and it never sticks lol.

These days I shoot for working out around 2pm. It lets me beat the afternoon rush at the gym, and since I eat light breakfasts & lunches, I'm in an even place as far as energy and satiety. Plus it gives me a nice structure to the day: work, work out, then family time and dinner and whatever else.

But if I'm trying to gain, working out first thing in the morning really gets my appetite going, so that's nice. And long runs are best suited for sunrise I think. And working out before bed will lead to some really deep sleep for me, most of the time.

I work out first thing in the morning, usually between 6am and 7am. My kids wake up at 7, and I get up between 5:30 and 6. By the time I change, make my way downstairs to get my stuff ready, etc., I'm awake enough and then I do a 5-minute warm up and that gets me ready to workout both mentally and physically.

It takes me a few hours to get hungry after working out though, so thankfully the workout gives me enough energy to make it to mid-morning when I have a light breakfast that carries me through to lunch. This time of day is usually the toughest for me, a couple hours after lunch and before the end of the workday, so I either walk to pick up my kids from school or take the dog for a walk if they're not in school.

I excercise about 6-6:30pm. I get home from work about 5:30 and then spend the next hour in denial and whining that I'm gonna excercise. Then I excercise and love it and am glad I did it and tell myself to remember that tomorrow and stop whining about it. Then I don't remember and whine again the next day lol. I just love not doing things.

last few weeks I’ve been working out late mornings since I’m off work, but I’m getting back in the habit of working out at like 6/7 am.

I’m jealous of y’all. I used to work out like 5-6 days a week but now I’m lucky if I can get 3 in. I like to go from about 9-11pm out of necessity and just because I got used to it. My partner leaves for work at 5am and I have two kids so early mornings are out of the question. And now by the time we get out of work, pick up the kids, have dinner it’s already like close to 9. And she’s been having issues with me not being around as much because I always want to work out. I feel like I can’t get a good routine anymore

What workout app does everyone use to keep track of their workouts or target what body parts they’re gonna work out that day etc.

For the first half of your question, I just use Google Sheets on my phone and my Apple Watch to track mileage and times.

For the second half, I follow established programs or create variations of them, so my training blocks are pretty well planned out for weeks at a time (again in Google Sheets).

Makes it easy to log and adjust and track stuff over time.

Fitbod. I work out at home and only have adjustable dumbbells so it gets pretty repetitive but I love being told what to do. Impressively customizable too.
