Lil Uzi Vert is also playing Gov Ball so that tracks. I really hope Fall Out Boy avoids this though, to be fair, that wouldn't count as their NYC area date so ultimately may not be a problem.

Not making any announcement this week is actually the first smart business move they’ve made. Anything announced this week would’ve just gotten overlooked by the Coachella and Bonnaroo announcements.

Yea I think that vague instagram post was their way of saying the 26th is the next wave

They’re advertising that this is your *last chance* to get “Tier 1 priced tickets”.

Which I thought had already passed when they announced the 2nd wave back in December (you know, like they said would happen).

But I’m sure this was all part of the plan, and they’ve had great ticket sales so far and they just don’t operate like all those other music festivals for squares.

Does anyone know anyone who has purchased tickets to this event?

On the GCW podcast owner Brett Lauderdale talked a bit about Bamboozle. He said basically all three days will be like a full GCW card just spread out throughout the day. He said John D is paying for the full GCW experience, so they will have deathmatches, main events etc.

a coworker of my wife’s did, cause she went to all the old ones and bought them the second they went on sale expect “when we were young east coast” essentially. She is determined to have a good time but is very disappointed. But still expects FOB and Taking Back Sunday.

A buddy of mine bought tickets and still has faith the next announcement will justify his purchase. "They've never had a bad lineup and this is the big comeback"

taking back sunday is playing Sad Summer Fest so i am guessing they won't be playing this since they will be in NJ in July.

Fall Out boy seems like a safe bet at this point.

Why does everyone assume Fall Out Boy will play this? They’ve very actively avoided the emo nostalgia scene and, if they were inclined to do it, WWWY or Adjacent would probably have been able to throw much more money at them then whatever pathetic budget John D most likely has will allow.

They seem to have some relationship with this fest/John D. They headlined Bamboozle in 05, 06 and 09, as well as headlined the return of Skate & Surf in 2013 when John D took it over again. Plus they kinda satisfy both the nostalgia and the modern categories that this fest tries to blend.

They literally tweeted “see you on emo island” today.

Right, but I’m saying it shows that they aren’t “actively avoiding emo nostalgia”

Fair points, and maybe they are loyal to past relationships. It would just strike me as odd to come to their team and say “Hey! Want to headline a revitalized Bamboozle festival with Limp Bizkit, Steve Aoki Hollywood Undead and a puppet? Did we mention there would also be wrestling? Also, sorry we can’t offer you as much money as other festivals but trust us, it’ll be worth it!”

unless they are stuck booking puppets because they spent all their money on big headliners

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

Puppet versions of FOB playing on stage while the real FOB plays behind the stage and no one can see them lol

Somehow the Sad Summer lineup (which is only 8 bands per date) is a disappointment in its own right and still has more total bands that I would pay to see than the current Bamboozle lineup. that is astounding to me. Sad Summer is about $270 cheaper than Bamboozle.

I have no doubt the 3rd wave will be the best one (I mean, how could it possibly not be?) but the fact that they managed to announce over 40 artists so far without even accidentally getting one I’d pay over $20 to see is incredible.

I’m actually starting to enjoy following this rollout every step of the way. It might not be what I had hoped for, but I really have the sense that we’re witnessing history. This might be the worst curated festival of all time. I feel like I’m lounging on a beach with a walkie talkie during Fyre Festival just hearing everything fall apart in real time.

Personally I love that Sad Summer lineup. TBS, Head Automatica, Stand Atlantic, The Maine, PVRIS and Hot Mulligan all in day, for only $60, is much more appealing to me than 3 days of Bamboozle at 6x the price (not including hotel).

One more week to see if this will be an absolute trainwreck or not.
