gonna listen to this on my way to philly later, hell yeah

 

First track blew me away. Love that 3/4 feel and they did it so well

 

Oh crap so on track two the drums are in 3/4 on the outro but he guitars are playing a 1 and 2 and feel. Such great rhythmic bliss

 

Something about seeing this leaked on the cold morning of October 1st just makes sense

 

Guys it's 70 degrees here, I don't know if I should listen or not.

 

You should listen because it's very good and good music will always transcend whatever the weather is like outside.

 

The final track sounds like the most classic American football on here but it's sprinkled all over. There are times it sounds a lot like Owen but that's okay. The guitar work is supuberb and this is going to be something I listen to a lot! Heavy heavy use of 3/4 time signature.. while the vocal melodies are similar to Owen the delivery is really strong here and I love how loud the drums are

 

The guitar tones on here are something else

 

When an album leaks early like this it's usually intentional right?

 

I was hoping for more weird time signatures.

 

Yea but it's more about doing other things rhythmically that are really cool. A lot of poly rhythmic stuff

 

Token use of the trumpet in that last track.

 

I wish there was more use of it to be honest. That being said I'm just blown away by the guitar work

 

Idk I may like this more than the first lp. Seems more focused and fits where I am in my life right now more. It's WAY to early to tell but I will be playing this a lot

 

I'm mostly being critical just to be critical, I wasn't blown away by the new record as a whole but I'm sure I'll be fine with it in the long run.

 

Polyvinyl records always leak three weeks in advance. So do Dead Oceans releases. Not entirely sure why but it sucks. On a side note, this album is beautiful and is my top 5 of the year.
