Well they were in fashion when Cameron first started the first film.

I keep getting texts from friends that are excited to tell me they saw it and it was a “10/10 one of the best movies I’ve ever seen in my life”

And we all know 3 will be even better

Gotta say I enjoyed this. Much like the first, I didn’t feel there was too much to cling to character or story wise (though there were definitely improvements on the first in that regard), but it really is a stunning visual experience and the third act action is really a blast. I didn’t need another Avatar movie in my life, but I’m not upset about Cameron making more of these.

  12. The story isn't a masterpiece or anything (although it is an improvement on the first) but I definitely think there's a lot more to grasp onto character-wise here. The family stuff really works for me.

Yeah it would have been so easy to accidentally make one/multiple of the kids annoying but instead they're my favorite characters in the movie

Hoping to see this tomorrow. Anyone have a good recap video of the first one they’d recommend. Don’t have time to rewatch.

I barely remembered the first one, the first few minutes we a little confusing but I do think the movie does a good job of bringing people back up to speed.

So I ended up seeing this at the Alamo Drafthouse Big Show, which I just assumed was going to be 3D. Turns out it was 2D but it was still visually stunning. Should I make the effort to get around to this in 3D? Is it that much better?

I really liked this movie. Really love that there are still people claiming Avatar has no fandom as it speeds towards 2Billion box office.

"The difference in fan behaviour is clearly not about passion. Demographics play a role, however. These fan groups were never dominated by adolescent males, unlike with many Hollywood blockbusters. Since Jaws in 1975, studios have largely focused on 16- to 25-year-old males, but Cameron’s recent films have also appealed to young women and older adults of both sexes. Perhaps, then, it’s a function of Cameron’s success that his online fandom is so muted. Comic books, video games and sci-fi were once the province of nerds, outward markers of fandom signalling your identity among a community. Because everyone and their mum went to see Avatar, there is less tribalism involved. A Titanic T-shirt doesn’t show peculiar discernment or reveal a particular predilection; it just shows you saw the same film as everyone else."

I would certainly buy the argument that obsessive younger males are the loudest people online, and there's less in Avatar aimed exclusively at them for them to build their identity around

It definitely does seem to have more of a female fan base than superhero films.

I haven’t seen Megan yet but would her and Jake Sully be friends? I’d think to think so.
