Cool fest, but probably not worth the hassle of figuring out childcare and shit like MDF would be. At least in 2024 when MDF comes back that'll be a tad easier because the kids will be a year older.

 

yeah it's too far for me to justify travel expenses considering there's no one in particular that I haven't seen or really care that much to go out of my way to see (aside from maybe Pig Destroyer), but the overall bill is one of the strongest I've seen in a while

 

Guarantee that 2/3 of these bands are going to be on tours surrounding this if I had to guess so they'll probably be heading Texas's way at some point.

Listening to Leprosy by Death rn, I need to revisit this band more often

 

New Unfelled track from the upcoming album (pagan black metal with D. from Woods Of Desolation, the singer from Austere and the drummer from Drudkh)

 

Didn't really know where to place this. Interesting blend of Metal, Rock, Stoner and Post-Hardcore.

Engineered Matt Talbott (HUM), mixed by Kurt Ballou (Converge) and mastered by Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna). All the right ingredients.

Some new stuff from the past week.

Ambient/Post-Black/Funeral Doom Metal out of Russia. Kind of relaxing, some drone elements.

Symphonic funeral doom, less dark and more major keys than the above. Maybe it's because the guy is from Texas?

Black metal out of Greece, and I don't mean the warm Mediterranean kind like Varathron and Rotting Christ, this hits harder.

YOU'RE GOT DAMN RIGHT IT'S THRASH METAL THVSRDAY YOU FOOLS

Today I offer a few tracks from 2022 stuff I missed and some new stuff.

First, are there any legacy thrash bands doing anything as good as Kreator these days? Sure, they might have become a bit formulaic, but I will always enjoy angry German thrash metal. Finally caught up with their album from last year and loving the title track even though it's nearly a year old.

High Command is a name I've seen in here a lot and I finally jumped on the train. Looking at the cover gives me epic metal/black metal vibes, but nope it's thrash/crossover stuff which we love here. Sad I waited this long, even though it was only released in late November:

Lastly we have the first single from the new album from Siege of Power, a death thrash outfit with Chris Reifert of Autopsy fame on vocals, in addition to ex-members from Asphyx and Hail of Bullets. This is good shit. Album is out on Metal Blade next month. If you only listen to one song in this post, make it this one:
