Is there a legit chance the Workaholics movie gets picked up somewhere else? Doesn't Paramount own Viacom, who owns Comedy Central, who presumably owns Workaholics?

After the re-merger with CBS its all Paramount Global now. After the restructuring Comedy Central is now technically under the MTV umbrella. Also VH1 is now technically under BET group of networks.

I think Paramount+ is starting to find their lane of what they're good at, which is wide appealing shows that are entertaining but not technically "good" by the standards we've been taught to expect most streaming shows to be good. I can see them finding a lot of success in the post-prestige general entertainment era of streaming that is inevitably coming.

I feel like it's finicky with android based platforms anyways. I have to force close it sometimes on my Shield TV and Chromecast because it won't boot up to the home screen of the app without erroring out repeatedly

My prediction is that as other streamers move into more general entertainment mass appeal territory that Apple TV+ is going to end up being the main place for "prestige" tv because they're only streamer whose business model is not solely beholden to subs.

In a few years Apple TV+ is going to start to feel like HBO in the 2000's.

It's weird because Amazon Prime should be in the same boat as Apple TV+ but most of their streaming output is pretty forgettable. And they don't really promote anything outside of LOTR and I guess Jack Ryan.

To me, Paramount+‘s model is basically “Yellowstone” and whatever “Yellowstone” adjacent show Taylor Sheridan wants to do.

I don’t think there’s a good answer because in the end, it comes down to companies being greedy. Cable prices go up because networks want more money until it’s so out of control, like it has been for the past decade, that people can cut the cord.

Streaming service prices go up because pretty much every company is gonna or is seeing they can jack them up a couple bucks every year and people will pay (instead of having quality control to keep costs lower). Eventually there will be a breaking point and they’ll have to die off or consolidate. Right now, the big ones are betting on ad-supported model that I don’t think is gonna fly in any meaningful way. I tried HBO Max with ads and it’s atrocious.

No idea, but I'm not an expert. Something needs to change though, this current model isn't sustainable for the artists or the platforms

I started Yellowstone last night. I didn’t realize the first episode was an hour and a half so I didn’t finish it. So far I’d call it bad but intriguing. I enjoy most of Sheridan’s work, so I’ll stick with it for now.

Yeah when I started it I kind of went into it in a "this is dumb but fun" way like SoA, but the more I watched the more I got sucked into the characters and lore. It's a really solid modern soap opera essentially. Its no Succession or White Lotus or anything, but its definitely watchable. Also the two prequel spinoffs 1883 and 1923 might actually be better than the main series.
